Montreal snowstorm - February 15th-Feburary 16th, 2021

A video compilation of the island of Montreal’s third significant snowfall for the Fall-Winter 2020-2021 period.
This snowfall was associated with a broad Nor’easter-like system, which simultaneously yielded a significant ice storm in the U.S., as well as severe thunderstorms and tornadoes for the U.S. SE. Once beginning by late-evening February 15th, total snowfall was about 18 cm with this event, at Trudeau airport. The most significant snowfall rates occurred during the pre-dawn hours of February 16th, when rates of 1-1.5 cm/hour were observed. The snow quickly eased by late-morning February 16th, but new light to moderate snowfall was generated for the afternoon to early-evening, and skies largely cleared by mid-evening. Gusty NE/ENE winds created blowing and drifting snow.
Footage was taken in SW Pierrefonds, located in Montreal’s West Island. Radar imagery is courtesy of Environment Canada.
