Montreal Canadiens' Michael Hage - Zone Entry Conversions and Improvement

Спорт

I'll take a look at the 21st selection of the 2024 NHL Draft, Michael Hage of the Montreal Canadiens and how his zone entry process looks, how it has improved, and where it can still go. I'll also do a little explanation on what it means to "get corner" on a defenseman using Matt Duchene.
This is not intended to be a highlight reel or even a shift-by-shift breakdown of the player.

Thank you for making this man. Been looking for someone who competently understands the game to do breakdowns. Huge fan, please keep posting if you do this with other prospects. Would love to know your thoughts on Parascak if you’ve covered him at all. I know his skating is wonky and he definitely needs to work on it, but I feel like the iq and flashes are so there. Kinda reminds me of a Walmart version of Jason Robertson in his draft year.

Great Breakdown! The format reminds me a bit of what Coach Nick of bballbreakdown would do when he analyzed a player for a particular game (categorize offensive in three categories : good, meh and bad )

Love your analysis, you do a great job with every video I've watched. Overall I'd say I was left with a negative opinion on his zone entries and decision making yet he was still drafted 21st overall. What does that say about scouting on a whole? Do scouts only care about tools and not toolbox?

I really wanted him at 18 to the hawks, how do you compare him to Boisvert?

Awesome analysis guys. I do not know skate on ice, thats how much I know about hockey, but I actually do not like how Hage's makes decisions in the attack. Could you do an analysis of Ivan Demidov? There exists some analysis already but I am sure you could have some distinct observations from others. Thanks!

Can you do something on Gridin? Could be misremembering but I thought I heard somewhere in HPs podcast or the blackbook that you were a big fan of his.

You are correct, I am a big fan of Gridin. I'll see if I can put something together on him in the near future.

13:20 I can honestly say I've never heard this terminology from a play-by-play guy. Was he thirsty?

I agree. The fiat system collapsing is a major happening. Though, I find Michael Hage's zone entry conversion rates to be an underrated signal of the world's economic health.
