Well, he's not on the roster yet. But boy, the idea of Demidov at center and Slafkovsky on the wing...as long as the rules continue to mandate that we only play with one puck at a time, I suspect Demidov and Slaf will have it. Conversely, watching Demidov-Suzuki-Caufield work off each other off the rush and in sustained attack zones settings seems fun too.

Michkov will hug the blueline like Kovalchuk did . it will cost them games. Matvei will get reprimended and will learn and adapt like Ilya did . but michkov dont have a tenth of Kovalchuk speed. Demidov in the other hand is near perfect in the THREE zones. His brain is always going 100000 mph like Datsyuk's brain. Demidov is by a mile better than Michkov. Yeah sure Michkov has a great shot . will it excuse him for his no existing defensive plays? kovalev mtl era, Kovalchuk, ovechkin were all excused because they can net 40+ goals 95 +pts I hope Michkov gets in the league and scores 40+ goals for years to come or he will have a bad time.

Really enjoyed this. Nicely done. I like both him and Michkov a lot. Judging by how high Levshunov went, I understand the Reinbacher pick. I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise. The videos either convince you or they don't, the comments section will never solve anything. I will say that he was not the consensus anything. Perhaps on public lists, maybe...I don't really keep those in my head very well. But certainly not on NHL team lists was he consensus. It was a real mixed bag. Some saying, "it's really tight between him and five other guys." Some saying, "I don't see what the problem is, he's #2 (overall) on my list." and others saying, "I question the hockey sense and the dynamic ability, it scares me off from putting him top 10." etc. etc. I understand what people see when they go, "yes, he's top [whatever]" and I understand the reticence over some very obvious weaknesses. That's what makes the draft interesting...

I wanted Demidov or Buim… don’t we have like 5-6 really good dman prospects? I don’t understand why we don’t try and draft a standout offensive player. Teams needs 2-3 offensive superstars to win cups. We have bedard then who? And don’t even comment on free agency because they doesn’t happen ever!

I do think you have solid points on his current shortcomings. The issue in your eval though is you are 1) not taking where he is in the dev cycle into account. He is behind the curve a bit. That neans more rosk vut higher upside. 2) assuming he is going to play in the NHL in his D+1 year. Or even D+2. Is he NHLbready today? No way. Does he have the tools and smarts to develop correctly? The hawks think so and having watched half a dozen of his games this year(on TV) and watched him develop i would say that yes, he can. Will he? Who knows. But i think it is more lilely than not.
@rfjohnson6913 күн бұрын
The idea of him being in his prime at 18 is just absurd. He has not even grown into his body yet. And he will be playing in the AHL this year so it will be against me with bigger bodies so he will be forced to learn how to use that body. The kid was playing on a euro sized risk in Belarus 2 1/2 years ago. Then a year in the ushl. Then a year in the NCAA. Give him a hot minute to develop. Putting him in the NHL even next year would be stupid and is another absurd hot take IMO. You had some valid points in this video, and highlighted some concerns, but you also missed the narrative on a bunch as well. You sounds like a person who leans towards solid known quantities over risk taking in the draft. And I won't begrudge that philosophy. I'm less risk averse though, and so is the hawks front office.
