Rachel I absolutely love all your parenting advice and methods, I have a six year old and only now I found out about the Montessori approach, follow the child, etc. I have raised her up to now a very different way. I’m sure many parents as well as myself would love your take on how to correct old habits, for example I always used rewards as a form of motivation, now I no longer agree with that but don’t know how my daughter would unlearn such concepts.

Ohh! This is such an interesting concept I've been thinking about for a video as it comes up in a lot of my convos: the montessori "glow up" effect of "old school" parenting seemingly not being in alignment, when it's closer than we think!! Ill add it to the queue for late August/early Sept!

Watching this even though I live in Arizona with bark scorpions and can't do this lol At least during the day after I check a room it'll be safe for an infant or toddler to explore

This may be a dumb question.. I have a trundle bed (normal height with a floor bed that pulls out). I've heard the floor bed part is safe for toddlers but the climbing scares me of course. I'm a first time mom and wonder if you would recommend this or not?

  • @theconfusedmom

If I was justtt starting out, I'd use the trundle frame unattached to a main bed (so free standing) and remove the wheels or lock them since they won't be held in place by the main bed. Also put the little corner covers if there are sharp corners on the bed. Watch your child from there and see how you feel about the set up. If the trundle has to be attached to the upper bed, I'd get a safety rail to ensure the child can't roll between the floor bed and upper bed, which in theory would prevent them from climbing to that upper bed too, and ensure that the trundle can't roll itself back under. I think I talk more about this in the next video with a link to one! Basically what you ultimately want to ensure is the child can't get trapped anywhere, and there is no bedding around that the child could pull down on them or get lost in if climbing up to the upper bed.

Have you ever heard of someone doing a floor bed in the parent’s room? As a next step after a bassinet or bed-sharing?

Hi! Im wondering, until what age is ok for my kid to sleep on a floor bed? My son is 4 and just found out about floor beds, he sleeps with us because the crib is already small for him (he stretches a lot) Thanks for the info on the video too!❤
