I know, right? Monster Energy Drinks are a wasted opportunity for such a clever joke, like when Mike warned Sulley that sneaking Boo in a monster disguise into Monsters Incorporated could get them banished like *The Abominable Snowman, Bigfoot and The Loch Ness Monster.* Or when Eda told Luz in the first episode of The Owl House that the witch world banished giraffes.

The thing with the humour in monsters inc is that a lot of the jokes are surprisingly natural. The line delivery feels like it would be apart of an actual conversation. But in monsters at work there is none of that natural delivery.

Pixar has lost all of its touch. It used to tell mature, adult stories through animation. Now it just makes generic kids films, trying to live up to its old reputation.
Personally, I love it. It’s a fun concept, I love the VA cast, I love the potential! The first two episodes did a lot of laying the groundwork for future episodes. The line delivery does seem less natural than Monsters Inc or Monsters university, my guess is they were recorded during quarantine. I’ll be keeping up with it for sure.

Monsters Inc was the first movie I ever saw in theaters but I was almost two so I don’t really remember it. It’s still one of my favorite movies and hearing the show’s intro brought nostalgic tears to my eyes. You can only imagine how much I anticipated this show, I thought it’d be for Monsters Inc fans what The Mandalorian was for Star Wars fans. I was semi disappointed watching the first two episodes. Pretty much everything you said about it is correct: it’s boring in the worst way, Tyler has “vanilla protagonist” syndrome, but there’s a fun moment snuck in here and there. I thought I was being a typical angry fan, but at times, it felt like a poorly written Monsters Inc self-insert fan fiction or Superstore if it was made for kids. My biggest complaint is it probably should’ve been something like Tyler becomes an assistant/intern to Mike and Sully, that way the focus remains on the pair, but we can see what happens through the eyes of a new guy. Only good part was I laughed at most of the Mike and Sully scenes and it was nice seeing Celia again, who I totally forgot was voiced by Jennifer Tilly. Only thing keeping me going is the fact it’s supposed to have a full season, and pilots in my opinion are more often than not the worst of the show, since they’re still ironing out the kinks and the only purpose the first episode serves is exposition. Looking forward to any future review you make!

Monsters inc requires a lot of ignoring of common sense. How are there never adults in the room? Never dogs? How are the adults never nearby to hear the screams? The monsters never get caught?
If the ending is something like "the MIFTers become Jokesters along with Tylor" I'd be a bit more fine with that. If MIFT's personalities REALLY turn around for the better as the series goes on, I guess I'd be a bit more fine with a "Tylor stays with MIFT" ending, but still, don't really want that.

In my opinion, _Monsters at Work_ is pretty decent and I like it. Keep in mind that the series takes place after the events of the _Monsters Inc._ so maybe the show is the closest thing we have for a sequel (I guess). At least there are little references that wrap up the series and keep faithful to the previous movies, such as the Tyler graduated at Monsters University on the day where Waternoose got arrested in the opening scene of the first episode and Mike even mentioned Boo in the third episode. *_"LAUGHTER, WE'RE AFTER."_*
Come on guys, only 3 episodes are out for now, give it a chance, maybe the series will develop in the futher episodes. I see a big potential in this show. Also, am I the only one, who actually likes the animation? It feels for me like a mix of both MI and MU.

1:04 Boards of Directors selecting a new CEO is their primary job, usually. Promoting a previous non-executive to CEO is weird, but Sully has at least a little clout for being the previous "Top Scarer" for several fiscal quarters and was the one who discovered that Laughter was a more efficient/renewable source of energy. Considering the change in company methods of energy gathering/creation it is not a horrible idea to hire the "experts." Also keep in mind, the board is desperate based on comments by Mr. Waternoose in regards to the reduction of incoming Scream and its resulting loss in revenue.

I love this show! how can you hate monsters at work!
Something that I'm pretty sure is mentioned in the Monsters Inc. Movie is that there are other companies devoted to harnessing screams for energy. It could have been a post credit scene for Monsters U. But I think this show could have a really good story arc about how Monsters Incorporated, the supposed premiere company is dropping screams and going with laughter. Because I do remember that there were power shortages which is what prompted Waternoose(?) and Randall to build that scream sucking machine. The point however is that this major power supply company is going through a massive change in production in a sense, something that these other companies should take notice of that their main competitor just dropped scaring humans to making them laugh and is according to numbers at least getting more power than ever before. That would be something these other companies would want to investigate to see if Monsters Incorporated is cooking their books or if there truly is something to them changing how monsters have generated power. So getting a monster on the inside for corporate espionage would make for an interesting story. Additionally as you said this series takes place the day after Waternoose's arrest, even if they were getting that information out as quickly as possible the monster world would need time to react and absorb this information about humans, i.e. not being toxic, laughter is better than screams, and so on. Not to take the series into boring "senate meetings" but there should outside perspective on what those not involved in the company think about what Monsters Incorporated is doing. Some of the monsters questioning if this really works. You could make jabs about people protesting Laugh Energy the same way they do about Nuclear if you wanted to make a comment on the energy industry. Like many series there are loads of options available for the show to go over so it doesn't get boring so long as the series wants to actually try and not just hope it can coast off the name alone.
It’s hard to quantify, but something just kind of seems off about the animation of the newer monsters, and that applies to Monaters U as well as this show. I guess they’re just too bright?

I kinda vibe with the low-key tone of the series of going to work and working off kinks of a new work environment both for Tylor and the company. I do want the show to improve as it goes along but for now especially with Val and Fritz. They don't bother me as much as you just because of how low stakes everything is. ** duncan is the only one that could understand banana bread. ig he didn’t care to ask him his name and prefers the nickname, which makes sense considering he calls tylor “college boy” duncan is my favorite too, he keeps shit moving in an entertaining way fr 😂 and sadly i agree w the whole wanting to laugh but not laughing thing, but that’s with their intentional jokes. i can’t tell you how much me and my brother laughed making fun of this show, the characters, and doing nonsense theories. i kid you not, now w the newer episodes, we did a bit on how they were gonna add a red sully and a blue mike. they literally added a blue mike. we died when he came on screen. anyway it’s a fun time since me and my brother both love Monsters inc + university, and don’t take the show so seriously. i’m glad you weren’t unreasonably critical. this was a good video!! :D
My 4 yr old and I like this show its unique not perfect like a kids version of the office.
3:42 Never would have thought that multi-eyed monster was British but here we are and I'm not mad about it. Honestly kind of fits him. In the movie he just grunted and that's it so him having a smart-ish British accent is surprising.
All I can say is, this is alright! And as a student who’s is literally still in uni, I’m intrigued with Tyler’s story.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge huge fan of Monsters Inc. And Sulley and Mike. But this show.. it just doesn't have that same feeling that I had when I saw the original movie
Even though Monsters University isn’t well liked amongst most Pixar fans but honestly after rewatching both movies so I can have a refresher for this show, I actually had a good time with it! It’s more of a slice a life (with a bit of action) movie kinda similar to Luca (which is the most recent Pixar movie to come out) which I kinda hope maybe Pixar can do more slice of life movies since if Luca and Monsters University did well (in my opinion) they should do it
At the moment I’m really enjoying the show, it’s pretty cool since the idea of a monster graduating from mu and getting to become a scarer just to be told he wasted years of his life was always a joke I would make with my brother but now it’s really a thing
val feels like disney tried to recreate wander from wander over yonder but completely misunderstood what makes wander likeable
"It's an untapped market" That killed me 🤣🤣
This show it golden to me. Honestly is one of the better spin offs from Disney
My family and I keep laughing out loud at this so I guess it is weather the humor lands or not.

There was definitely a few moments that genuinely made me laugh🤣! I do really hope the rest of the series holds up 🤞
shady doorags voice makes me sooo happy!😂😂
I think it’ll get better as it goes along it just needs to find it’s footing
How cool would it be if Monster at Work’s humor purposefully improves as the Monsters do. It could be as if our laughter contributed to the Monster world’s gradual energy increase!
THANK YOU! Someone else who sees how far in denial Spongebob is about his and Squidward being "Friends"
I really like the concept and it seems charming, so i'll check it out
The concept of this show is great. I adore Monsters Inc, I even REALLY like Monsters University. But what I liked was Mike and Sully. I don’t like any of the new characters and just like Shady said I’m not laughing at all at a cartoon about becoming a comedian. Being funny is the entire plot and I haven’t genuinely laughed once after 3 episodes. I only ever enjoy when Mike and Sully are on screen so I wish they would’ve made a show about them and not about Tylor. This will probably be a show I watch once and never return to.

I knew they wouldn't be the main characters, because they keep using the original voices, which means that it would be expensive to keep them for long periods of time. On the other hand, they do seem to be wanting to give us the opposite message of Mike in Monsters U with Tylor, he's not funny, Mike made it to the scare floor but he never became a scarer, Tylor might get the same response in reverse
It kills me to not see the pixar logo above the monster inc logo
That's exactly what I was thinking about this show. I wasn't one of the ones who saw Monsters Inc. in theaters until they rereleased it in three-d's later on and multiple repeats on TV, so I didn't grow up with it, but I do find Monsters at Work adorable. That's it. A few jokes made me laugh, but not bust a gut laughter. Also, I realize that the board of directors doesn't want to deal with the gaping backlash of the company failing, so they plucked Mike and Sully from the Scare Floor up to C.E.O. to cover for the damages.
I think it's a nice show it wasn't really necessary but it's Good for what it's worth
I'm really enjoying the series. I do wish it focused more on Mike and Sully though. I have grown to like Tylor and some of the others. I love that it brought back some of the characters from the first movie like Cecilia, and the two idiots where one keeps telling the other to shut up and calls him an idiot.
The people who worked on this were on disney instead of the heads of pixar I mean it wouldnt change anything since the old workers of pixar were gone But idk Soul still had the magic of what makes pixar "pixar"
So are you gonna revisit this now that the season 1 finale is out?
I haven’t seen this series but I’ve heard about it from nostalgia critic and he said it’s like an animated version of the office. And what ive seen I like it.
I was hoping that this could lead toward them revisiting the “Boo” idea. I would love to see that concept become a reality
I just wanna see the CDA again, those hazmat suit lads where my childhood
I mean I figured the reason that a lot of the established scarers are getting more of a chance to keep their jobs is a matter of them having seniority or wording of employment contracts. Not super interesting but it would make sense
Its "okay, but unnecessary" stuff like this that makes me grateful A Bug's Life (One of my fav. Pixar movies) will likely stay a one-and-done story.
I don't mind the show so far personally, everything about it is kinda okay. My personal least favorite part of the show are the MIFTers, excluding Tylor. The first episode was good but then the second episode kinda just repeated what we already knew? I just hope the series has more going on in the next few episodes.

I think the 1st two episodes are aight. I don't really think we needed a show like this but I'm willing to accept it, and would like to see where it goes.
