No need for them to beat Samson & Boogey Van. And also: GRAVE DIGGER & GOLDBERG Were Most-Popular than the Wrestling Villains during 2000.

If you was gonna have Gene Patterson why not have Snake Bite? Gene As Colt Cobra was awesome.

I'm a wrestling fan & I know that WWF & WCW (2000 at this time) was scripted but the bumps were real (plus the WWF ratings were really high) , but this is just bad. Love monster trucks, but this was a bad idea. No wonder Motor Madness was getting more views and actually made it to PPV.

@FeelTheBernier I had forgotten about that when I wrote this. But even that was different than this. This felt like from start to finish this was made in a soap opera manner but monster wars was taking a race and adding pro wrestling style promos after the fact.

You ever watch monster wars.... from 1992.... or Motor Madness with the drama shit in the 1998 year when they brought Dusty Rhodes to be part of commentary. The last show to be only racing.... without having restrictions of entry for any truck due to promotion contracts was the Pendaliner series shown on Trucks and Tractor Power

Wrestling and Monster trucks are hard to separate now days thanks to WCW but pther them the scores being sketchy never once do I think the actual freestyles are races are scripted now it’s predictable but so is the NFL lol cuz heck I’m a Jaguars fan and that feels way more scripted then Monster Jam lol

Man you can really hear/see the WWF/WCW and Most Extreme Elimination Challenge influences on the commentary and storylines

I remember this event. I have been looking for it for years. Even when I was a 4-5 year old kid, I thought this show was way too sensationalized; especially since this was after the PENDA days and during the golden era of Monster Jam. The track was pretty darn good though.

@@MJJackinator I would personally say 1999 to 2002. That seemed like it when had the most mainstream exposure. They filmed so much that they split every show up into two episodes with racing one week and freestyle the next so both sides of the fandom were served well. They also tried their best to make it seem like live events too even though they weren’t. Freestyle was just taking off. The Speed years were good too but they were on a channel that was harder to get at the time, and eventually coverage fizzled into 30 minute segments that were basically highlight reels; which we seem to finally be getting out of this phase just now.

They still never showed Dan being innocent, and who actually destroyed the truck lol. I remember watching this when I was 4 years old. Crazy that I found this.

Yeah. I was never into this show. I liked the racing, but adding a storyline to monster truck racing was stupid imo.

I'm always wanting more monster trucks on a national scale, especially Bigfoot, but this? I was excited when hearing about this leading up, but when I saw it I kind of wished Bigfoot want on the national level of it meant this. I love wrestling, I love monster trucks & I love Bigfoot, this made a mockery of all of them.

This has to be the most hated video that ever happened to monster truck racing 🤬🤬🤬 I hated that stupid story line. This is up there when TNN sod that stupid story line with Katie Hass leaving n they did a stupid wrestling skits

Monster Wars was at least clearly aiming at a very young demographic and you can skip past the character bits easily. This show was mostly wrestling nonsense with a small percentage of racing, and all of the scripted bits feel a little bit sleazy, and I say that as someone who certainly isn’t a prude and enjoys horror movies with lots of violence and nudity.

Oh my, Where's Bigfoot at!!!??? Oh..wait, doesn't that say BIGFOOT on the sides of the hood and on the trunk? Haha, Good thing this was a one time deal!

i can't believe this place lost its monster truck vibe and sat abandoned for years before being turned into a motorcross park. As of now the place is temporarily closed. I hope it reopens again

And thats probly why monster jam was getting more veiws that wresling kind of script thing was stupied IMO

Controversial take incoming!: I’m glad this event exists because historians of any kind take the good and the bad. So the fact that this mistake of an event serves as a reminder on what not to do. Those who don’t learn from history or try to erase history are doomed to repeat it.

That was Gene Patterson and Rick Petroline in the surveillance camera footage under orders from Big Daddy and Itty Bitty, and Big Daddy’s “investigation” he spoke of was just a cover up to make it seem like he had no involvement. But eventually Big Daddy and Itty Bitty would be found out and reprimanded for their actions.

This was the only time I laughed at a monster truck show. The script idea then was bad, and now it's just laughably bad. And to think this is what was used to promote the new ProMT Series. Sorry, didn't exactly work well...although ProMT provided some awesome action.

Ahhhhhh, I watched this as a kid. The track had so much potential. too bad they had to be idiots.

20 minutes into the special, and we’ve had maybe 1 minute of actual monster truck racing and 19 minutes of scripted nonsense that isn’t even a little bit educational about the sport, the trucks, or the drivers’ actual personalities. The announcers are terrible too. Did they really say “two Fords” during the Samson and Dr Bones race?

what the hell am i watching, this looks like a poorly made kids show, not a monster truck show. it takes a lot for me to say this, but modern Monster Jam is better than this, despite the racing being not so great with basically identical trucks and stupid bodies on them, they're not trying to add cringy stories to it
