As a drag racer, the call with Bari Musawwir was a fair call. If you don't have your vehicle staged deep enough and it rocks, you will roll out of the beams and you will unstage. If the tree activates before you can get back in, you're out.

If the Gun Slinger Orlando screwjob is on here, I can say 100% that the replay showed on Speed in 2004 was NOT the angle they showed/cut live. The angle used that night was right on the finish line. Gun Slinger had a small lead going up the ramp, when both trucks were in the air his lead was.increasing. There is no way physically possible Grave Digger could have passed him in the air when he was losing ground to Hartsock. I was sitting in a section closer to the start, and Hartsock's wife was in the section next to us, passing out 3*5 hero cards. For the final round she walked down to the finish line to get a better view. After the race she came back in tears and there was a pretty good chorus of boos from the crowd. It was obvious what happened. I still hate myself for not taking a picture of the replay screen (which ironically was the first year the Citrus Bowl had it, go figure).

To me Monster Jam died when they got rid of the crush cars. A lot of the thrill was through the crush cars being run over and the replacement of cars with extremely high flying BKT tire stunts ironically seems much more dangerous with how close some of the landings on those tires reaching close to the grandstands. To me that mentality of extreme air stunts are what is going to lead to Monster Jam having a major disaster involving spectators comparable to other types of motorsports like the Le Mans disaster for 24 hour racing or the Ramstein disaster for air shows, far more worrisome than a bunch of crush cars that aren't stacked up or using winnebago's that have a 1 in a million chance of hitting spectators or track crew.

Not only that but the fact that they straight up lied to us about the drivers summit being where "all would be revealed" at but that never happened is straight up dicking on the fans who are already upset about the Cars being gone and so on is just plain wrong. @@harveylong5878 right but usually at the Monster Jam events I grew up with (Metrodome) usually they brought spare cars and other vehicles to crush in case more got wrecked early on during racing. Of course the Metrodome was one of the top venues for the sport in 2000's so the managers running it likely had more budget for it so maybe I am biased towards that idk. Either way the crush cars provided a challenge that I don't think dirt or trick only freestyles can truly match as it's as much of an endurance test for the driver as it is for the machines itself. Trying to work with and overcome physical objects impeding your vehicle on top of needing to do stunts to wow the audience is a sight I'm sad is becoming rarer and rarer at monster trucks shows as a whole.

There was also the controversy involving Neil Elliot and Dennis Anderson in the championship race in Orlando back in 2010 when there was a light flickering malfunction. Same goes for the shutoff of Dennis after he slapped the wall in the Metrodome back in December of 2004.

I think people give World Finals 2014 a bad name. Though the track was mostly dirt, there was still a lot of cars. They cared about the paint design. They also still let trucks run while broken, and I don't mean just broken, I mean destroyed. Madusa was demolished and she kept going until she got hung on cars. If they brought back that track, I think everyone would be very grateful.

  • @Howard.Stern.

The problem was that the dirt mounds were too clustered. And after a handful of freestyles the paint lines were destroyed and the drivers could not tell where the dirt piles were as everything looked the same from the cockpit. You can see in the later runs guys are just jamming the throttle right into the sides of the dirt mounds because they have no idea where they are. Something like the 2017 WF freestyle track was more spread out and was not terrible for FELD's anti-crush car policy.

on the topic of the fans being allowed to judge I honestly say they need to go back to what they did back in 2007 where they had their own handpicked judges because the "fans" have been notorious for giving someone a load of points just for going not even 20 seconds and doing a "questionably" insane wreck and this was big back in 2000-2003 with Tom and Dennis specifically because if any one of them came out and did that in freestyle they won immediately that said my 2 most hated things are fan judging because they always rig it no matter what and the removal of crush cars because crush cars are what made monster trucks famous and yes I'll happily admit that Bigfoot started it all with that and removing them from monster trucks removes the identity of it all and honestly just ruins the fun factor because it was much more fun watching someone hit a bus stack than jumping from one tabletop to another

I've often said with fan judging that it was best in like 2016/17 where you had professional judges, then they tossed the high & low, then added a fan score. Use judges zone, but have some automatic deductions that get appled to every score. Like in minimum 30 second run for any score in Freestyle, then 1 point off for every 10 seconds left on it. For skills, 5 points deducted for only doing 1 SUCCESSFUL trick or 0 for none in a stadium (6 for only doing 1 trick, 3 for doing 2 in arenas). If they did that, then I think it would be fair as the "Digger points" (or anyother truck/driver favoritism) from the fans could be averaged out.

About the freestyle scoring, for World finals XX that one is very divisive, like legitimately anyone of those or other drivers could’ve won, even Linsey Read did a good freestyle, so anyone could’ve won, where it gets interesting though it is definitely when the run was like boring or ended early like Cynthia Gauthier skyrocketing then crashing right out of the gate, she didn’t win but she got a high score for like the one move and that’s it which is very much the part that people do not like about fan judging

Fan judging is a two-edge sword. The pros are it obviously creates more interaction and participation from the fans and more fun to somewhat have an impact on the scoring. The cons are it will generally favor the more well-known trucks for a somewhat bias judging. I personally like it as it creates interesting discussion with the group you're attending with and it's more engaging, which is good for the sport. In the end, it's supposed to be fun for the fans and I look at it as the drivers have the races to compete with each other with an unbiased judging while the fans get to feel a part of the freestyle which is the most entertaining to watch.

I wish I could remember the particular event but I even remember the truck that was supposed to win the event experienced a mechanical failure and stopped short of the finish line and the intended loser, knowing he was supposed to lose, stopped because he didn’t know what to do 😅

A controversial moment that I feel you left out of this video is Dawn Creten not winning the freestyle championship at World Finals 9. Now, Adam Anderson and Dawn Creten both had two of the most insanely, incredible and memorable freestyle runs in Monster Jam history. HOWEVER, I wholeheartedly believe Dawn Creten should've been a Monster Jam champion on that night NOT Adam Anderson. I don't think any favoritism played a part in the outcome either it just so happened to be Adam got ONE more point. Another controversial moment that I think of is Minneapolis 2009 I attended this non-televised show but Chad Tingler was robbed by the judges he put on one hell of a freestyle. If I recall he ended up with 4 flat tires and just kept going! He, wouldn't stop it was AWESOME! Adam Anderson was the final performance of the evening and while he put on a great show like the Anderson's ALWAYS do he went home with the freestyle win & I was very disappointed in the out-come overall it was an incredible show & first great experience to see Monster Jam in person.

I disagree. Dawn Creten's run at WF9 was otherwise not especially great outside of her jumping the triple buses and making the save afterwards; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing, and it was also held back by the fact that she left 6 seconds on the regulation clock. Adam Anderson, meanwhile, put on one of the best freestyle runs in the history of monster trucks. His run had flow, high-speed momentum, huge air, wow factor, combos, and filled both the 90 seconds and bonus time. He deserved to win that night and he did.

Having a scoring system in general for a meaningless championship is the most controversial. When more than 80% of the trucks In competition at the events are owned by the “governing body” there is nothing legitimate. I’m sorry but there’s nothing more controversial than that. It’s just wrestling on wheels. Purist to the actual sport would agree. I’ve not taken a single MJ champion serious since the motor madness days. While bragging rights are great for the drivers it honestly leaves monster trucks in the sports entertainment realm and it makes it nearly impossible to cross back over to the TNT or Penda days

Pro tree lights, pro tree rules. Rolling out of the staging beams indicates a delay to stage as an aggressive act to the other racer in drag racing. Not the intent here, but it's the way the lights work, and the round before the same thing happened and the rerun caused cam to redlight himself, so I can see where the officials wouldn't want to delay any longer as they are transfixed on time points. Sucks that it happened, but that's the way they are setup.
