Monster released from jail to commit one final heinous act - The Story of Galina Komar

in 1996, Galina Komar was a victim of d*mestic ab*se who relied on the city of New York to keep her safe. A judge's careless ruling would result in her tragic and untimely passing, causing outrage throughout the city.

I agree with you all. He also had a shallow sense of what abuse was. As a judge, he should have known that the victim only needed an affidavit on file for him to keep the guy away from her. The judge asking for pictures and records from the hospital was crazy to me. This was such a sad case.

I remember this story and I was so shocked and sad to hear that no matter how much a DVV calls the police and makes report it is up to a judge who in many cases could care less. This judge disregarded a human life and never once viewed her as a victim. An abuse victim at that. He was concerned about the dog and not that this man is evil and could possibly kill her. So sad and senseless. RIP Galina.

YEP! It'll continue to happen. This is a very dangerous and sickening pattern. Any young woman can fall victim to this. Just out nowhere, they give a guy a chance not knowing he may have a history of violence toward women or maybe she's the first he unleashes it on. They report it, call cops, go to court, only for the guys to be let out over and over and over and they get closer and closer to finishing what they started. This shit is heartbreaking. Something needs to be done because its not slowing down at all. You CANNOT have a neglectful ass judge holding that gavel. It has to be someone who understands these women are close to having zero options and are desperately seeking help. I really hope he's haunted by this and I hope to some day make a series on her life. I know who id cast and everything. Its story that needs to be told.

If he wasn't abusive to his wife, his way of drawing whatever conclusion was based on other cases that he encountered. It doesn't take much to see the trajectory of others thinking, especially when it's off. No one should be making decisions or drawing conclusions of situations, soley based on what they witnessed a degenerate mind do or say in the past. A healthy brain supercedes this level of thinking and should be able to easily deal with each situation based on what's involved in that situation. On the flip side, I believe that it is said person and those around them responsibility to nip specifics in the bud. It seems like this male knew that no one around her would stand up to him. All of these folk saying this and that after she died says that people knew, but left him to his devices. Something that he already saw and took advantage of. As this is how a predator moves. If no one is around (in said person's life) and or they don't see the women or men that she knows doing anything to protect her........they'll run a muck.

The legal system had so many chances to stop him and never did, just like with the piece of garbage talked about here. On the flip side my current stepdad's ex accused him of domestic violence and threw him in jail with no proof. We sat and listened to her laugh about how she lied to the cops and how she "got back" at him for leaving her. It feels like our legal system is set up to protect abusers, male or female.

There are so many bad judges. Most get away with it. I think judges have too much power. There should be in place specific charges and procedures for violent crimes like this that the judges can't just arbitrarily skip and make their own decisions. I don't think that women or even men who are abused like this should get to drop charges. I think the charges have to remain. The victim should be expected to be in court or else. Anyone familiar with abusive relationships know that victims are always dropping charges and forgiving because they are scared and brainwashed. Someone needs to save them from themselves.

Such a terrible, preventable and heinous reign of terror this POS bestowed upon this poor woman.y heart goes out to her poor mother and child. Mad props to you brother with the way you articulate the facts as well as the emotions in these cases. You do your homework quite well and are concise and very insightful. But the biggest thing you do that touches my heart is the way keep their memories alive so that they didn't die in vain because the. Way you break it down and raise awareness to all life's vicious pitfalls. Keep it up, I'll be watching. God bless!

Omg!! I would have sued the judge personally and the county. This is a terrible case. The judge dropped the ball. Smh!! That scumbag took his own life!! Disgusting!!! Good glad he was removed. But, the mother should have sued him in civil court!! Everybody stay safe. ✌️ NI, the judges need to take domestic abuse seriously!!!

Until today many judges have innocent people blood in their hands by releasing criminals back into society. We need to start holding more judges accountable one way or another, so they would do their jobs properly. BTW, thanks for always telling the stories with such a respectful and considerate manner. You're doing such a great job.

There really should be more outlets for women in abusive relationships to get help, like shelters or safe havens. The victims need to know there is a safe place to go and those places should give them counseling on how to stop the victim mentality so they stop the cycles of back and forth. As for the abusers they should serve as severe a sentence as the law can allow.

That's what people fail to understand. The government, judges, police, etc, have no legal obligation to protect any citizen that's not in their custody. Look up the supreme court no duty to protect. That's one reason why you'd wanna keep your right to own a gun. Fyi, it's not taken seriously because so many women lie about it.

There are two types of people that have a negative impact on domestic violence laws: victims who repeatedly go back and false accusations of abuse. Yes, there are victims who repeatedly go back and file repeat reports against their abusers but never see them through. You really have to fight and stand firm. Any relationship that involves any form of abuse needs to end regardless of how minute those involved thinks it is. Yes, there are false accusers who abuse the power of the courts to control, punish or get revenge on significant others. These two types of people have serious influence on the laws that are made and enforced.
