Arranged, Produced, Filmed, Performed, and Edited by Geoff Castellucci
Production Manager, Costuming and Cameo - Kathy Castellucci
Choreography - Matthew “Bucky” Buckner - / gamerdadbucky
Audio Mix - Ed Boyer
Filmed at Pattycake Productions Studio - Special thanks to Layne Stein and Tony Wakim for their amazing set and all of their help. / pattycakestudiospace
I also want to send out a huge thanks to Rick Underwood. This video had to be re-filmed due to several issues with the original footage. Rick did some incredible makeup for the first shoot, but sadly our schedules did not align for the reshoot and we weren’t able to feature his amazing work. Kathy stepped in and tried her very best to make me look like the living dead. I was already exhausted so it didn’t take much.

I would like to draw your attention to Kathy twitching each time Geoff hits a low note, pretty much embodying how we all react to those notes... 😄 (I caught two, 1:35 and 2:17, but maybe there are more…?) Do yourselves a favour and watch this *at least* five times in a row, focusing on the whole ensemble and then each Geoff in turn. Each Geoff has his own unique voice and personality. I’m particularly entertained by Wolfman Geoff in the middle, who was so amazed that his hips were moving in time to the music, and then realized he loved it. (Also, have you ever seen a cuter Dracula gesture (1:33)? I think not.) Narrator Geoff had some great looks and moves throughout too, even when he wasn't vocalizing - the perfectly timed move at 2:00 was, well, perfect. Now the music stuffs. The instrumentation on this song is so freaking enjoyable. It’s bouncy and jaunty and buoyant, just what you’d (not) expect in a monster song. And who knew that Für Elise would make such a great ragtime riff! Lyrically, I loved how in the first and second choruses, the monsters were the “backup singers” while the Narrator took the lead, but in the third chorus, the roles were reversed. It’s little things like this that keep Geoff’s songs fresh and interesting and unpredictable. Geoff, you are a master at incorporating details, little or big, for us to find. It’s like a treasure hunt…but the treasure, truly, is this song.

Plus each of the "doubles" are dressed as and acts like one of the monsters--the leftmost double is Dracula, the one to the right is Frankenstein's monster, and the middle is the Wolfman (though that's admittedly based on the behavioral tics, I've not actually seen the original film for that particular monster.) That would also leave Geoff as Victor and Kathy as Elizabeth, though I suppose, given some of the more modern takes (and one of those in particular), she could also be the monster's bride...

I've watched this video so many times, especially this week since my Dad was put on hospice on Monday and this wonderful video has been one of the few things guaranteed to put a genuine smile on my face. I love it all but my favorite part is the look on mad scientist Geoff's face in the Dracula scene. Absolutely priceless! Also love those dance moves but you'd best be careful or Layne will be wanting crazy dance moves along with the vocal gymnastics for his next VP video! My heartfelt thanks to you, Kathy & your entire crew for all the time, effort and hard work that went into making this gem.

I know, right? It's just jerky enough that it almost looks like it animated or edited in post, but it's just smooth enough to possibly be done irl during the filming... Trippy as heck to watch as a film/animation student. Also, is it just me, or are those last few musical bars the opening to "Fur Elise"?

The quirky, jerky effect is achieved by filming at slightly slower than normal speed, then playing sped up to regular tempo. It can be done subtly (as it is here) or more obvious, depending on how much slower you record. It's a really cool effect, that is used in music videos from time to time in different contexts. VoicePlay (Geoff's group) used it for sure in "Grim Grinning Ghosts." Broken Peach used it in their "Tainted Love" video. Weird Al used it in "White and Nerdy." There are many other examples...

Okay, I have to admit I have watched this I think almost 10 times or more.. I watched each of the Geoffs and even watched Kathy. Each one of the Geoffs had their own personality and little quirks. Like the Wolfman Geoff (the middle one) with the cute scratching of the "fur" and the coy smile when he began to move to the music with hips... The Monster Geoff had a few of his own quirks, one being how his wave was when the two danced away. The Dracula Geoff had a cute gesture and even when he spoke of "What ever happened to.." had a look on his face of confusion. As for the narrator, Geoff, just as Angie said below just had expressions and a personalty that tied it all together. As for Kathy twitching, that was a great thing. And I loved when she screamed bringing the "Bride" to life. It was a great touch. I LOVED the Bach toccata and fugue because when I first watched it and it got to the "La la la" section, I was like wait; I know this! And for Für Elise to be a great riff of ragtime style was awesome. Watching you in your videos is like a treasure trove of just fun and great music. I know I will watch this again and find something else that amazes me.

Loved everything about this and his other videos. The small details he adds to each character is great. Love when Wolfman Geoff scratches the fleas, Dracula Geoff floss his teeth. The fact that eachbif the the 3 back up singer Geoffs do different dances. Wolfman Geoff looks like he's going to start to Mambo. When Geoff pauses in the line the zombies were having.........fun. Wonder what the pause meant? As if to ask whatever the zombies were doing could constitute fun. The cracking of the bones was a wonderful touch. Geoff, you sir have have taken a wonderful season classic to a whole new level, new and refreshing yet you put your on twist to it. Iblook forward to many more of your videos.
