Monopoly Bid - How to Play & Review

Ойындар

Thanks for watching my review and how to play the Monopoly Bid card game. My wife and I definitely fall more into the casual gamer category, so if you find yourself playing lighter games, you might enjoy this one! I will be bringing this one to my next family gathering.

    Great video! It's a funny one, this game. In the group I play games with, ask them which is the better game, Monopoly Bid or Monopoly Deal, and without a moment's hesitation, every last one of them will shout, "DEAL"! And yet... when it actually comes to playing a game, and they're given the same option, it'll always be Bid!? I have no idea why this is, maybe our group just has some unresolved issues to work through..? I see you have a video for M. Deal published too, think I'll just pop over for a look at it.

    The game seems really exciting. By the way. Your movie about the game "wizard" gave me the idea. And I think you can play something similar to Monopoly Bid using cards that almost everyone has ... I mean Uno cards. There are 1-5 money, there are stop cards, there are +2 cards and there are "steal" cards, the ones with a change of direction. What do you think about it?

    @@riffleshuffleandroll , if I may, I think that the game could use a few more additions, such as house, hotel, and property cards, as well as utility cards, not just the Electric Company, Luxury Tax, Income Tax, and Go to Jail places, but also other bills, as well as two additional decks, namely, the Community Chest and Chance card decks, along with some new features for each deck. At the beginning of a player's turn, every player draws a card. If a player runs out of cards during their turn, their hand remains empty until the next turn. At that point, they will draw 1 card. If the player wants to have more than one card in their hand, they will have to wait a few turns and hold on to the cards they draw. Hope this helps! Please let me know if what I put does not make any sense.

    @@kristopherhayes1957 Sorry for the delay in my response! What I mean is Monopoly Deal seems to be a game that I come back to over time (rather than Bid). Monopoly Deal has a pretty big competitive scene in other countries which Bid has yet to develop (and I don't think it will due to the nature of the game). Deal is essentially Rummy with action cards, so the core mechanism is easy to pick up.

  • @kristopherhayes1957

    @kristopherhayes1957

    @SkipSolo thanks for responding! It is interesting that you say that. I never knew it was such a popular game. Probably it is similar to Rummy, like you said, which makes a lot of sense now that you mentioned it. As for monopoly millionaire, I have played that game in the past, and I recently bought it again. Although it was expensive since it's out of print. I'd say it simplified the money aspect of the game since there are only 100 or 50 dollars cards (the equivalent of 1 and 2 dollar bills). I believe the original Deal version had those type of cards, too, but they changed it after they rebranded it. Although I could be wrong about that. It also has a few new cards in that version such as a card that allows you to replay your turn and new golden property and rent cards which can be devastating if collected since all 3 cards can cause a player to force rent for 1 million dollars which usually winning the game (the other rent would be 300K for one card, 500K for 2 cards, and then 1M).There's only 2 golden rent cards to allow that to happen, so it is usually rare. As for gameplay, the millionaire version is a bit more fun since it involves players managing their cards. In comparison to the other versions of Monopoly Deal, the money aspect of the game usually becomes inconvenient or irrelevant since players who have the most property tend to win the game most of the time (I played this game a lot with 2 or 3 players so it would make sense). In Monopoly Millionaire, however, the way to win is by collecting enough money cards in order to get to a million, which causes the money cards to have more value throughout the game. This causes the game to be more dynamic since there is a tension between having more property and having money. Even if you have more property cards than your opponents, it would mean nothing if another player is close to winning with money. Likewise, if you do have more property cards, you may have more opportunities to cause rent by the luck of drawing a card, which also gets you money and closer to winning.
