Monopoly DEAL vs CLASSIC Monopoly
Which is Better?
Monopoly is a high luck based, dice rolling Family Board Game where players aim to monopolise the other players by paying rent, purchasing coloured property sets, building houses, building hotels and mortgaging properties in order to force the other players into bankruptcy.

With the plethora of different incarnations of Monopoly out there, there are very few versions of Monopoly that really elevate the strategy of Monopoly to a more advanced level whilst still maintaining clear game balance, meaningful player decisions and choices.
This video highlights how the card game version of Monopoly, Monopoly DEAL is better and more fun than the classic version of Monopoly the board game.
Monopoly Deal differs from the original game by focusing players on racing them head to head to try and collect three complete coloured property sets first. The player who does so wins the game. As always, there are twists to the classic game that everybody knows. The action cards found within the deck drives the competitive and strategic nature of the game. Players feel as though they are in a tug of war of strategic decision making. Wild cards, action cards and elements of deck sifting and building all shine here. As property fluidly move between players, the stakes are much higher and the game players more competitively. In similar fashion to games like UNO, Monopoly Deal shines in its ability to keep things tense, without the luck factor of the dice roll and keeping everybody in the game until the very end.
Monopoly Deal is a perfect travel game to take onto a plane or on a family holiday. It is one of the better versions of Monopoly out there.
The Board Game Sanctuary is a family friendly board game channel that aims to introduce the board gaming hobby to new and seasoned players in a light, fun and humourous way.

I've been playing Monopoly Deal a lot since the start of pandemic. I absolutely love this game - fast pace and short, lots of interactions, easy to play but complex enough to build your own strategy, and can be chaotic. My friend has the Hong a Kong expansion (discontinued and very rare) and they added more fun cards. Because of how often I play with my friends (group of 4-5 during pandemic), we started adding our own custom cards for more strategy and chaos. I highly recommend: closed bank (face down), 4 different sets to win, house/hotel can be used from your bank, and rotating/moving of wild properties consumes 1 of your 3 actions during that turn. Let me know how you like this recommendation after you've played it!

@@BoardGameSanctuary I'm sure eBay is a start since it has been discontinued. Google it and you can probably see what extra cards it comes with. Off the top of my head: Go to jail: target player skips his next turn Speeding fine: select 2 player to discard a card from their hand Double sly deal: take 2 properties from one player (not from full sets) Inheritance: take one card from another player's hand Pay my rent: select a player to pay your rent (reaction card like just say no) The good thing about the Hong Kong edition is that it comes with both English and Chinese text on each card.

I'm surprised this game is not more popular than it is, it seems more fun than Uno or Phase 10

You could just own both because they do play very differently. Monopoly Deal is more portable so easier to carry when going on holiday.

Seems? It's different not complicated. It's what some would call a 'train game', a game you can play on the fly without having the space to setup a board.

  • @PedroCarvalho-lb7qx

@@alextrecartin Not sure I would call it a train game. For example Uno is easy for that because you only need a draw deck and a space to play your cards, whereas here you need to setup your cards in front of you and that takes up a lot more space
