Monolithic WRB

In a previous video Jake Bruton from Aarow Building discussed the use of Huber’s Exacor sheathing product to create a fire-rated assembly. However, the Exacor product, unlike Zip sheathing, requires a WRB for waterproofing and air sealing. Jake’s team used a Prosoco product to complete the job, including Fastflash and CAT 5.

Might want to try using 1/8"plastic horseshoe shims on your bottom flange of the window help to promote the moisture to be able to get out a little easier you locate those where you put a screw then the horseshoe shim can't fall out, but leaves a gap for the moisture to transfer more easily

fire resistance aside (Exacor sheathing), is the fluid applied over standard OSB more or less expensive than Zip System with tape and liquid flashing?

This is an upgraded cost. But in this case it was about serving the purpose of the needed assembly, not the cost.

Too bad Prosoco’s roll on liquid applied WRB is almost three times the cost as the spray on WRB. My team is definitely learning how to utilize the spray on.

Prosoco has fluid and roll on. On small projects lke this the roll on seems to work better for us. In our market there arent contractors that specialize in fluid applieds either, which stinks.

@@jake.bruton.aarow.building I have a few projects in south Texas where we get to use the spray on. You're right about no one specializing in it and that's why we are learning how to do it ourselves. So far during our test runs it applies faster and we're wasting less product while getting the 10mil layer. Overall the results look great. I'll get back to you when we're a lot better at it so we can help you with it too.

Where are you building that requires this specific fire rating standard? Is this a commercial building?

This is a residential building that was too close to a lot line and required due to the next building being too close.

The ICF product is only good above grade. Use a fully adhered membrane below grade

How does the cost of this compare to zip sheathing and tape?

It is more costly than Zip and tape. However this was absolutely due to lot lines and fire needs first. I like this system but the MGO isnt needed in regular construction.
