This was a passion project from Dev that finally came to be and at first Netflix bought it. Jordan Peele watched it and loved it so much he bought it from Netflix to give it a theatrical release through Universal.

Yes, but the action didn't look good...in this...I love the cast and the cinematography, but the fights, at least the little that is seen, is not seen at the same level as John Wick and not even close to Ong. Bak...you can tell that the protagonist doesn't have the martial skills of Tony or Keanu.
@thatofromsoweto

@@mcruz4571 I don't think that's the point though - to make them LIKE John Wick or Ong Bak, this film just has a sort of similar pacing, for lack of a better word, to the two franchises. It also seems to have a plot reminiscent of the aforementioned films: A Revenge/Vengeance driven plot. But, I suppose we'll have to make more informed conclusions once the movie's released.

I agree with you and some of the other comments here that it isn't gonna be on the scale of Tony or Keanu, But I think that's how it's meant to be. He's not meant to be a top martial artist actor or even the character, but somebody who's just a scrapper and does what he can with it.

Saying that an Indian guy directing a movie about an Indian character is "better" is the equivalent of saying that a white guy directing a movie about white characters is better than if a director of another ethnicity directed it. Always remember: racism works in both directions and racism against white people is not any better or excusable than any other racist remark. As for the movie: it looks awesome! Can't wait.

Watched twice and quite disappointed... Watch 12th Fail or Super 30 to see how a good film is made... A good balance of real life and daily experiences in smaller Indian towns.. Unlike Monkey Man which has the classic overseas Indian stereotypes where only a few super rich and many very impoverished people exist (and the 700million middle class with their real, daily struggles but small happinesses - are invisible) ... The plot of a religious guru controlling the ruling political party and being nationalist is intended to speculate and please extreme left wing 😂 Very poor, cringe music too. And the repeated western narrative of cramped, unclean India is very 1990s 😂 Great action though.
