What's really exciting is as indian guys, we do get cast as IT guys, 7-11 guys, ...and no one was writing action parts for this brilliant actor (Dev Patel). So he wrote and directed a brilliant film like this and now everyone will look at him as an action star. That's the beauty of this whole process. He took a major risk, and I have to say, I can't wait to see this film. I already love the trailer and the interview. As a producer, director and actor, I know EXACTLY what he is talking about. The struggle as an indian actor is real. Congrats Dev, so proud of you.

"Kill" is also coming out soon, which is an Indian action film that also looks absurdly violent.

@@robbaldwin2402 Yes, Karan Johar produced it ...unfortunately it's not as good as Monkey Man. It has great action, but the way it is shot, it's way to Bollywood like, and looks cheap, even though I am sure they had a decent budget. I hope it does well, but Monkey Man is John Wick with a heart and it's a bit artsy, which I loved.
God, I really want a special DVD release of this with all the background and deleted scenes of the film, even Dev's development of it over the years.
This movie was phenomenal. Fantastic action, with richly layered symbolism and a ringing message. As a woman I can totally appreciate how people who don’t normally get to see themselves on screen in powerful roles that celebrate their stories and uniqueness feel when they get to shine forth that main character character energy they always had. As a person of European descent, I can’t begin to express how thrilled I am to see strong characters that DON’T look like me, bringing me stories that I HAVEN’T heard a million times before. That’s good medicine for everyone. Screenwriters, casting directors, and producers take note.
Great conversation! As a Korean, I'm proud Dev is interested in Korean cinema 😊 Can't wait to see Monkey Man in theaters in Korea!

Very proud of Dev! Writing, directing and starring in his debut. Such a humble dude too. Can't wait to see Monkeyman.
As a half indian half American and a John Wick fan. I never thought I would be hyped for this movie.
Entire Asia loves Hanuman. Heard many stories growing up. When I was having fear in childhood. Use to remember hanuman. For some reason used to get enough courage to outlive my fear.

Where you from?
You can just see how passionate he is about this movie. Going to watch this at the cinemas!!!
I am extremely happy to see this adaptation of methodology and struggles of man. Dev, you are brilliant, mate.❤
Patel is a great actor, he was started in Slumdog Millionaire, this movie is gotta be so awesome for now.
this got me even more hyped to go see the film as soon as I can
we're so lucky to have Dev. i cannot wait to see this
Dev can do no wrong . He’s perfection in every way ❤
It was awesome to see Dev shouting out one of my favorite films, Man from Nowhere. I can’t wait to see Monkey Man tonight, it looks like a project of sheer grit and determination on every level.
I’ll never forget the soundtrack of Man From Nowhere when I first saw it 12 years ago. It had such a profound effect on me - and I’m so happy to see Dev was inspired by that movie and created such an incredible story that is unique and unapologetically Indian. You can’t help but to be proud of him - his creativity, tenacity, and grit to keep the movie going despite the challenges. I saw the movie last night and it was intense action all the way throughout.
please keep rambling i love it
Monkey Man is looking like pure 🔥 and the message is inspiring, phenomenal and meaningful. Stand up to evil. Vanquish the baddies and yeah, it looks like a kick ass ride! 😁
great conversation, good host
loved this story!
The Paramount is wonderful. Good luck, Dev. Hanuman!!!
Congratulations Dev, Jo and all the team!
Dev is very talented and so humble 👏
he's so handsome aaaaaaaaa
Great conversation and excellent film, love Dev! Also, the interviewer did a great job and asked well thought out questions!
I saw it opening night in theaters! It was amazing!
So proud of Dev! Could definitely feel the passion when watching this film. I am a filmmaker coming up and watching this movie and his passion is so amazing
I’m so proud of him and glad this film got to became a reality and see the light of day. Absolutely amazing viewing experience
The stories of how this was made are just absolutely insane. Dev deserves all the praise in the world for this. Can´t wait to watch!
His stories about his injuries illustrate exactly why we have talented legions of stunt men in this industry! 😂 But this film was seriously intense, and since I went into it completely blind, knowing nothing about it beforehand, I would say it does a great job of bringing this huge mythological tale into the present day, with all the pain of modern society on show. My only critique would be that sometimes there was too much shaky cam work, and I genuinely felt a bit nauseated at times. But hearing Dev talk about his character's ascension to heaven at the end actually brought tears to my eyes, because the struggle in the film is so arduous, and the final scenes with his mother so blissful. For an action film, it really had a lot of heart, and was certainly layered, just as Dev says here.
I am hype for it. I know a few who were there and said it was spectacular. Not just hype. But properly spectacular.
Amazing film and deserves all its flowers! Can’t wait for more beautiful pieces
dev deserves all the praise in the world,, amazing
Can't wait to see it in India

What a pleasant surprise, this movie! I can see that if it was made with local references to the greedy congressmen, elites, History of Native Indians treatment and genocides, colonialism, LBGTQ communities etc, in America and for Netflix, it would not have gotten anyone on board, no matter your name in Hollywood. Well done, Dev Patel. It's really impressive to make this kind of action flick!

I watched this opening night. Super excited cause loved Dev in lion most importantly and slumdog but sadly this movie wasn’t great. I’m just being honest. I love Dev and this was a solid performance from him but script sucked. Too artsy but in an obvious way with all the foreshadowing and too repetitive. I don’t want to give story away but all I can say is movie was just too violent unnecessarily. I wish there was actually good dialogue. There wasn’t. It was a very empty movie
@Nck480

He relies on visuals to tell the story vs dialogue. Also, let’s not forget it’s an action movie like John Wick, Kill Bill, etc etc which don’t get critiqued for their dialogue. I think your expectations for the movie are off from what it was meant to be.
