What really makes this moment is that until that point ideas either got you nowhere or through any given puzzle; you'd keeping jumping from problem to solution. This is where the game says "Using the oar as a stepping stone is moderately clever, but it was never meant to withstand such stress, and once you put your entire weight on it, it snaps, you fall, and bash the back of your head against the stone step for good measure". Then, before the player can finish shouting "HOLY SHIT!", you get this delirious scene. The pacing is what makes it.

This scene was so wild to experience as a kid. Like, the comedy of the entire bone dance is perfect, then zombie LeChuck showing up. *The music build* in that sequence is perfect...the spooky bit, the rapid piano, the added drumbeat as the pacing increases, and suddenly LECHUCK'S THEME. Emotional high point of the game for little me who adored The Secret of Monkey Island.
