Monastery of Horezu - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Monastery of Horezu is a beautiful little UNESCO World Heritage Site in southern Romania. It was built around 1690 by a local Prince, but what's incredible about this site are the paintings and frescoes both inside and out. They're the first examples of what's known as "Brâncovenesc style" art, considered by many to be the only true native Romanian art form. It's absolutely gorgeous, so let's have a closer look.

Looks like a really interesting place to visit. I think you could spend hours 'reading' those visual stories. Love the colours too!

Yeah they're quite spectacular! This was our first proper Orthodox church from memory, so we were both quite taken with it!
