Shrines and Temples of Nikko - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Shrines and Temples of Nikko are a fascinating and beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site in Japan. Located near Tokyo in central Japan, the three main shrines and temples here are a testament to Japanese art, architecture and culture. Interestingly, the complex is a mix of Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, which fits with the not-overly-religious culture of Japan. There's a lot of great stuff to see here at the three main sights of Futarasan, Tosho-gu and Rinno-ji, so let's check it out!

Toshogu Shrine has many amazing wood carvings, including the most famous three monkeys, imaginary elephants, and spirit beasts. They are also restored with expensive fine paints. It is the most luxurious Japanese shrine in the world, so it is a masterpiece of human creative genius.

@@WorldHeritageJourney This may be the only legal video inside Nikko Toshogu Shinto on the Internet in the world ever. Because photography and photography are prohibited inside Toshogu Shinto. In fact, it is simply a "life feat" if you dare to take pictures secretly without being discovered. kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4uX1LqqZ6-rZqQ.html

@@WorldHeritageJourney This is the only video of the interior of the main hall of Toshogu Shrine known on the world network. It was the first time I saw the door opened, but it was still covered by curtains. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qXis2MOnpaW9ddo.html

I'm curious about the strips of what looks like cloth with writing on them that are tied to what looks like a washing line

I'm not entirely sure, to be honest! Some sort of prayer ritual from what I could gather.
