I'd like to point out that not all JP Post Banks have this tablet translation option. If you're in the inaka, then good luck because you'll have to pull out your favorite translation app and every bit of Japanese that you can squeeze out of the folds of your brain. If not, then you better hope an employee speaks even a bit of English.

GOD I LOVE JAPAN. Watching you two ask for recomendations and then directions brought me back to my trip to Japan. It's amazing how businesses seem to always have a little booklet with their recomendations at the ready and a map ready to go as well. Lovely. They are just so helpful to tourists, and helpful in general, and so prepared. Also I was unaware of that fact about temple paths. I walked down the middle on my first trip to a temple...oops. Won't do again.

Being around cows actually did have an effect in protecting against smallpox because exposure to cowpox (which is very mild in humans but also very similar to cowpox) creates antibodies that can fight against smallpox! The first inoculations were done with cowpox scabs!

Some mistakes. Firstly, it is not a 神社 (Jinjya) it's an お寺 (Otera). A buddhist temple, not a Shinto shrine. Secondly, Tokugawa Ieyasu was not the first Shogun of Japan at all, he was number 37, though first of his own dynasty, the Tokugawa.
