Moments That Turned Athletes Into Heroes

These moments turned athletes into heroes. In 2019, a pickup hockey game suddenly turned scary when one of the players collapsed from a massive heart attack. In 2016, WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard took down a suspect during a robbery at a Florida gas station. In 2015, a Tennessee high school football star became a hero after he died shielding his friends during a shooting. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.

He was a real hero and never thought twice about doing what he could even at the risk of his own life. He would have made a good Paramedic, Firefighter, or Cop in my opinion. EMS and Fire needs good people who aren't out for glory. Too often people would show up out of school and assume it's about the glory and it's not. It's about helping people even with zero recognition. That's why I think he would have been a good one.

@@itzjowii They mispronounced his name. After that instance of him stopping the robber sometime later he and his son were swimming in the ocean when they were both pulled out to sea by a riptide, and when lifeguards got there, he told them to save his son first. Shad sadly would drown before rescuers could get back to him, but his selflessness ensured that his son survived.

I saved a mans life at 30k feet. I was a lone flight attendant with 50 passengers around 15 min into flight when my passenger when into cardiac arrest. I used an AED and manual compressions until we made an emergency landing. He never regained consciousness on the AC. He ended up in a coma and after a triple bypass and valve replacement he is still with us today, 14 years later.

He later drowned in the ocean after telling lifeguards to save his son first when a riptide had pulled them both out to sea.
