Don’t Mess With These Grandpas

These grandpas are something else. Joe Mack Roy, known to family as Pop, is a feisty 85-year-old. His personality has gotten him almost four million Facebook followers. Another grandpa who has been doing Donald Duck impersonations for 70-plus years uses the voice to scare off telemarketers. In 2015, a grandpa from Illinois crossed crashing through a garage door off his bucket list. Inside Edition’s Andrea Swindall has more.

    My Dad has been so mischievous his whole life. In his 80's, he lived with us and many times he'd walk around the property pulling two tanks strapped to a dolly. One tank was propane and the other was oxygen, and both had long hoses connected to them. He'd look for gopher mounds, and once he'd found one, he'd run those two hoses into the gopher hole as far as he could Then turn on those glasses at a mixture he developed. When he thought there was enough gas in there, he had a way of remotely igniting it and BLAM!! That winding gopher trail of dirt flew about six feet in the air and No more gophers there! My Dad would laugh like hell every time he blew one up! Then he'd move onto the next gopher hole! I miss him terribly.

    I love old grandpas, and grandmas and old dogs. My mother took the vaccine and passed out and hit her head so she went to the hospital to be checked out. While there she caught Covid so they sent her to a rehab hospital. While there she didn’t have access to her normal supply of books and we couldn’t bring them to her, so one of the nurses walked in her room and found her reading a pamphlet about what to do after your stroke. The nurse asked her how was it? Mom said, “ it’s kind of dry. “ she really needed a good love story!

    Agreed, it's sad to see the way we treat our elderly nowadays despite their experience, they gave it all for the next generation and seen it all, it looks like we just dump them in some senior home to rarely see them again, but to me, it's just not right, after everything they did for us we now just leave them there, feels like a betrayal towards them, same for our own parents being next in line, no, it's wrong to do this, and we call ourselves as being civilised ?? At the same time, in Asia and Africa, they treat their own elderly with a lot more respect, they may be old but we're also getting old ourselves and will be their own age some day, unless something happens to us before we get their age, a lot of us nowadays have no kids and haven't ever started families of our own... Also, they have so much stories to tell us where they themselves were there to see it happening and what they did when it happenend... And, they always have some advice to give us when we often don't know what we can do, that experience can never and will never be replaced...

    Reminds me of my late grand father.. he was once mugged down town by 4 guys.. or rather an attempted mugging. He served 15 years in the french foreign legion and when police arrived all four men needed hospital.. he was 69 at the time. He ran marathons until he was 84 and he died in 2003 age 102 from natural causes

    I love the elderly for this 🥰 They have so many stories they wanna tell or just talk in general. Theyre always so kind too! Im so happy where I work because they let the elderly dance, enjoy some treats or drinks, sometimes theres singing and more ☺ It brings a smile because before I did work at a elderly home, but there was only 2 working and often they were off to help the elderly that sleeps more and needed more care since they didnt ever come to the kitchen My heart broke when one of the elderly was left to roam the halls and kitchen, sometlmes crying and asking for help

    Go Go Granpa!!! Hey, we do what we can when the moment arrives. I'd have to agree that the older you get, the less hesitant you get. Something has to be done, do it. The importance of your own life is less compared to the importance of the lives of people around you. Much love.

  • @MS-bk7lv

    @MS-bk7lv

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, but he's not saying he shouldn't have intervened because of his age. The police wouldn't recommend a young person to intervene either, because the robbers could've very easily have shot and killed them, and the police doesn't want to encourage that. Doesn't mean they aren't grateful for the man stopping the robbery, but they have to be careful with what they say as to not encourage others to do the same.

    In Ga. at a school (Rabun-Gap Nachoochee), students get to visit the elderly and record stories about how life was done in another time. They learn about our American and Ga. folkore this way as well. They also might find friends this way with elderly folks who might need some help.
