Liz Truss aside, this new MP has some lovely and really important things to say here. I hope things are better for disabled people as he promises, and I’m sure his dad would be proud.

She is so awkward and cringy. She reminds me of the kid that stands on the end of a school choir. Picking her nose and looking at her parents who are waving at her to turn around and sing.

Perhaps I've been too cruel in my other comments condemning her. On a human level, she is probably utterly shattered by her defeat. There is no way back from this. I suspect she was late because she was afraid she would break down on stage if she didn't collect herself. Probably why she didn't make a speech. Getting a rosette was the last thing on her mind.

No, she doesn't. Prime ministers no longer receive half their final salary as pension (which wouldn't have been 130k anyway). They are now part of the ministerial pension scheme, a contributory defined benefit scheme. Ex prime ministers do get a maximum allowance of $115,000 a year to cover any expenses incurred acting in their capacity as an ex PM.

This was simply an amazing statement. Candidates like this can repair the broken political statement. Grace, humility and public service not politics as usual, cynicism or a complete disregard for the voters. The embodiment of the greater good. Well done!

Seems gentlemanly without completely letting Truss off the hook. More importantly seems human and compassionate which even Norfolk can't go without, though it has pretended it can when voting for the likes of Truss. All the best to Terry for the win and a great speech. Sadly if you add Reform to the Tory count, most people in the area don't want a sensible and humane MP or even a stable economy, but for once FPTP delivers a decent person into office even if all the farmers and fascists won't appreciate this.
