There should be a movie - I imagine it as a black comedy directed by the Coen brothers - based on Nepo's story. In contrast with the traditional movie trope, where the protagonist ultimately succeeds despite setbacks, we would be told a bittersweet, Kafkaesque story about a man chasing his dream and achieving great heights, but falling just a tiny bit short from the ultimate goal every time. Ian could be played by Seth Rogen, Oscar Isaac, James Corden... each potential choice infusing the movie with a somewhat different vibe. The real Nepo could make a cameo appearance as a Russian chess journalist interviewing the movie Nepo after a loss - that would add a nice ironic twist to the scene. Original soundtrack written by Regina Spektor. The title would simply be "Nepo".
