If you would like to see a general beam deflection equation, which works for multiple beam/load combinations, search youtube for Global Beam Deflection Equations, a 3-video set showing the derivation and use of this 'universal' deflection equation. It can be differentiated to give a corresponding 'universal' slope/moment/shear equation. It works for linear and non-linear loads, either beam-wide or partial loads and shows symmetries not previously known between beam types and across single point loads and across partial-load boundaries.

Hey there I need a clarification. t(b/a) is known as the deflection at point 'b' from a 0 rotation point at point 'a' from your video, but my prof use t(a/b) instead knowing point 'a' is the 0 rotation point or you call it reference point. Is there a difference or is there a fixed format to represent this?

Hello, let me first start by saying I am so grateful for all your videos they help a lot to struggling students like me and please keep them coming. I wanted to ask here, when calculating the the deflection of a point with respect to the other, the centroid that the you multiply the between those two points on the M/EI curve does it specifically needs to the distance from the point for which deflection is to be determined to the centroid or it doesn't matter? example for the above case one could have multiplied the area by L/3 when finding deflection.

Moment diagram is the integration of shear diagram. V = dM/dx. So if shear is constant, moment is linear.

"x bar" for a triangular area apparently doesn't exist if that makes sense. on all references I have, there is no value for "x bar" only a value for "y bar" which is "L/3". this is obviously different. care to explain this a bit? thanks, your videos are great btw...

structurefree my grades are good but i still think that it doesnt worth it Learning is supposed to be easy and whoever teaches must make it easier for who learns In today’s world , it isnt like that Calculus , engineering lectures etc. The logic and realization behind of all(I mean all are real and happening not like (x^3)’=x^2) Today I mean there are a lot of questions based on why and how but learning method isnt based on answering questions Learning is based on answers So without the questions it becomes harder to learn
