Dr Molly Millar with a Doctorate in music, is the lead guitarist for Jason Mraz. She is also the lead instrumentalist in the Molly Miller Trio along with Jennifer Condos and Jay Bellerose out of Los Angeles.

One thing that I appreciate about Molly Miller is her continual ability to be a stylistic master, keep it very interesting, fun, engaged, and even in the complex movements, whimsical and accessible. She is a master of her craft and wonderfully original without relying on pyrotechnics to get her point across.

I came upon your channel by accident and thought you did a really nice job of analyzing Dr. Millers work. I've been playing for six decades and have even managed to steal a living for a few of those years though more from the Steve Cropper side of the instrument. Her Doctorate is from USC and she is the Chair for guitar at The Los Angeles College of Music. While I like this she has some much cooler (in my humble opinion) original stuff out there with her trio and various other settings. No matter what she plays she makes it look easy though it obviously isn't.

tremendous effort Michael, at as best as this beginner can tell. Like you, I don't recall just how Molly M showed up in my feed, but the first item I clicked on was her duet with Adam Levy on an instrumental version of Buddy Holly's Everyday. Now she's on my bucket list to see playing live. And I enjoy the cover tunes she's posted.

I'm not a jazz person. That being said, I love what she did with this piece and how expressive and heartfelt she played it. Often times with jazz the players are very technical but lack emotion in their playing; Molly very smoothly brings a very emotive almost soulful style to the technicality that is jazz. I will have to check her out to see what else she does. Very nice.

Lack emotion? You must be listening to the wrong kind of jazz musicians, hehe. Funk is also closely linked with jazz and, often, very emotive.
