13:17 Mold Sensitivity Genes: LabCorp and Quest are Dr. Carnahan’s favored labs for HLA-DR Typing. The results need to be interpreted. Dr. Carnahan is able to do this with a Rosetta stone from Subject expert, Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker. There are two “dreaded” genotypes for mold sensitivity, 11-3-53 and 4-3-52. It's is estimated that 1% of the population has one of these two genes. Celiac HLAs are related to mold HLAs. It is the misprocessing of antigens.
14:49 HLAs, Pac Man of the Immune System: Dr. Carnahan orders Celiac HLA and HLA-DR typing for Celiac, and HLA-DR for mold, Lyme and other biotoxins. Celiac HLA typing, checks DQ2 and DQ8. People with two SNPs for DQ2, two SNPs of DQ8 or one DQ2 and one DQ8, have a high probability of problems with gluten processing. They may never get Celiac disease, but gluten can create inflammation and trigger autoimmunity. Autoimmunity and mold go hand-in-hand because of the inflammatory cascade.
19:50 The Possible Benefit of This Over-Reactive Immune System: Sometimes Dr. Carnahan has patients who say that they have not had a cold or flu for years. They may have some sort of virus, but their immune system is so dysfunctional that they are not symptomatic. Sometimes it is not the threat causing our illness, but our immune system’s response to the threat. People, who don’t have this cytokine reaction, are more prone to have these HLA types. Their immune system is so dysfunctional that it isn’t rallying a proper response.
21:31 Symptoms of Mold Exposure: Symptoms include fatigue, brain fog where you cannot concentrate, focus or complete a task easily, and memory issues in the form of finding words. NeuroQuant, SPECT MRI, or a functional MRI, all show changes in the brain from the mold. Instead of seasonal allergy responses, people with mold sensitivity have super-reactive mast cells and are in a constant histamine response with allergy symptoms. Your skin is a detox organ, so you might have new onset acne, sores, lesions, and/or scalp issues. Joint pain is common because it is an inflammatory response. Tingling, shortness of breath, sinus congestion, and blurry vision is also common.
24:12 Symptom - Prone to Static Shock: Mold affects the pituitary access to the extreme. One of the hormones in the posterior pituitary is antidiuretic hormone, which controls our saltwater balance, so another symptom is constant thirst that is unquenchable, dry skin, dry eyes,. The antidiuretic hormone is affected when MSH, another hormone that regulates the hypothalamic access. In mold illness, this almost always drops. That regulates cortisol, adrenals, thyroid, and antidiuretic hormone. Because antidiuretic hormone is low, you are drinking lots of water and have more salt on the surface of your skin. This makes you prone to static charge.
28:47 School Buildings Commonly Have Mold: Courthouses, schools and older buildings often have mold.
30:46 Biomarkers of Mold: The CRP or ESR inflammatory markers will be normal for those of us with mold reaction. CMP, basic metabolic kidney/liver, will be normal. CBC, most of the time will be normal. Routine labs will be normal. Because labs come back normal, many are deemed to have a psychiatric illness, especially when they experience another symptom of mold exposure, rage, anger and sudden deep dark depression when exposed to mold. Dr. Carnahan does HLA typing along with testing of leptin and adiponectin which will show early signs of insulin dysregulation. Mold reaction brings on insulin resistance. Dysregulation of cortisol blocks insulin from entering your cells. Your pancreas can be affected from the toxins, causing elevated lipase or amylase. You can have poor production of pancreatic enzymes and poor production of insulin. You can even become diabetic even when they have no family history.
32:51 Symptom - Sudden Weight Gain: People can put on 50 pounds from mold exposure even with decreased caloric intake and increased exercise. Because of the insulin resistance from the imbalance of leptin and adiponectin, these people cannot burn fat. They are metabolically so dysfunctional that typical dietary interventions do not work.
33:28 Mold and Blood Profusion: Mold exposure sensitivity decreases blood flow to your tissues. VEGF shows capillary tissue profusion. Early in the illness, this increases, causing new blood vessel growth. Dr. Carnahan, a runner, would have decreased profusion in her legs, causing lactic acid to build and sometimes her lower legs would go numb.

I've been horribly sick for over 2 years... neuro issues, heart, and endocrine complications..leading me to an almost bedridden life. I was suspicious of mold being that culprit after being exposed for nearly 3 years now and just received all my tests back that were discussed on this video that strongly confirmed toxic mold poisoning. I also have both genetic codes that were spoken about in the video as well as Lyme and EBV. I have just begun the shoemaker protocol and am incorporating natural binders and supplementation in the hopes of getting my life back! Such a valuable video! THANK you for sharing!

Fantastic interview Dr. Carnahan! I have my own business to do housecleaning in homes and trust me I have the experience to know and can 'sense' the smell and presence of mould rapidly. People have a hard time listening to me when I see the first signs of mould in their homes. There were many floods this spring in my area and I was appalled when I heard health authorities tell people to use only a 5% javex solution to treat wood and other surfaces (once they had removed the humid materials which could pose a risk to mould development out) when I know that it actually takes PURE javex to spray onto wood partitions and cement and leave it dry before proceeding to rebuilding a home's damaged areas after a flood (aside the fact that fecal matter is usually part of the picture during a major flooding event). Cleaning clothes with Borax is also a very good solution to save clothes which has been exposed to mould. Information like this will be extremely important to people recovering from the recent hurricanes in cleaning up operations of their homes and work places. Clean up carefully, let surfaces dry completely, treat cement and wood with PURE javex which is a very effective way to deactivate and kill mould and leave dry again before proceeding - leave several weeks to ensure there is no active mould starting to ensure you got it all. If active mould begins, repeat the javex treatment and/or get experts to come in to do a more drastic treatment. Take NO chance!

Do you have a list of people in the Boulder area whom you recommend for people who cannot wait 3 years to see you? If you do not want to put such a list on a public place like this, can such a list be obtained by contacting your office?

To anyone watching this video, I HIGHLY recommend listening to the podcast "Bulletproof Radio with Dave Asprey"... The specific episode is "It's Not Lyme, it's Mold - Dr. Andrew Heyman" (Episode 557)... It's INCREDIBLY informative, and talks about how people with mold toxicity are being misdiagnosed as having Lyme disease. It's also talks about the latest Genomics and MRI tests. It's incredible. I was misdiagnosed with Lyme for over a decade. Finally went to see Dr. Andrew Heyman this July (2019) and he confirmed that my problems have been mold-related all along (Not Lyme). Makes sense since I grew up in a VERY water-damaged building. Mold-related CIRS often triggers false positives on lyme tests, even though that's not the true underlying problem...

great great video! so glad I found this on someone's fb page! I have suspected mold for a while now. I've had chronic lyme for a long long time. went years undiagnosed. it was hard but I still managed to work and raise my daughter. as soon as I moved into this apartment I got worse. had to quit a great job and now it's a struggle to just make it through the day. since I've lived here there has been 3 water leaks and I'm pretty much disabled physically and mentally struggling also. after watching this video I know I have to make the mold testing a number one priority. thank you to you and Dr Jill for sharing such vitally important information. bless you both. can't wait to check out your other videos. I'm curious about the affects of mold on a healthy child and also if colonies, after long exposure, can grow in your body, mostly curious regarding intestines.

This is so on point with EMF and mold. I had exposure in a condo as well. I also had exposure to 23 smart meters attached to my bedroom wall. All of the smart meters made our exposure 100 times worse. I had almost every symptom listed for mold exposure. We are 6 months out and just now starting to feel sort of normal. We are still excreting a ton of mycotoxins. It’s going to be a long term process. This has turned our lives upside down. Strong EMF can make anyone’s immune system break down and unable to fight off the mold. My 13 year old is still struggling cognitively, brain fog and moodiness. There is no legal recourse as there was no visible mold, no testing which would acceptable in court.

I tried to combat the deterioration with diets, exercise, physicians making improper diagnoses etc. when I finally determined what it was I raised the issue with my employer and was fired. Now paying for care out of pocket, have atrophy in the brain of the caudate nucleus, Pallidum, and pituitary. sold my condo, threw away almost everything I own and trying to figure out where I need to relocate to. Arizona seems likely. So depressing but finding others makes it seem manageable.

Look in your HVAC unit. Cupboards, under sinks. The mold in my apartment was so severe it had spread under the carpet, behind the paint. They just painted right over it. It wasn’t visible and I couldn’t smell it. I had professionals come in to test air quality. The first crew didn’t say close all the windows so we can get a more accurate reading so it wasn’t that profound. I took the urine test to confirm I have been exposed and hired another crew to come in and retest. They were more professional, and told me to close everything up at least four hours before the test. It made a profound difference. All the tests that were in the air test matched my urine test. Just google around for companies that do air quality testing in your area that include mycotoxins. Dr. Jill knows what urine test to take. If you do indeed test positive with mold be prepared to lose everything you have in that home or apartment that has a cloth or paper material. You can pay people to have it professionally cleaned but it will cost you potentially thousands.

I was so sick that I couldn’t breath, couldn’t walk to the bathroom on my own, or wash my own hair. The symptoms so bad that are too many to list. I was too sick to leave my house, but my house was making me sick. I was the canary in the coal mine. Deep down I knew, though I went through test after test for these random symptoms for 2 years. Finally I said enough. I moved out, and tossed everything that my family of 5 owns. It has been really traumatic, but 14 days later and I am 90% better. My home has been gutted to the studs though I am afraid that even after remediation after I go back there that I will get sick again. I am terrified of getting that sick again.

Said that to a Doctor, and they sent me to a mental health complex for mental health evaluation. Was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, then had a sever reaction with the drug combination that they told me to take (which happened to be a very dangerous combo that needed serious medical attention incase of serotonin syndrome; which I developed on day one, but didn't know about it untill day 12). People died from SS within days, my brain was getting too much input due to the dangerously high level of serotonin, and I was in too much pain. But every time I went to the ER, they kept saying that I'm fine and that the drugs that I'm taking can cause agitation and anxiety. My brain is in recovery mode now.

Dr. Carnahan mentioned that CRP (C-Reactive Protein) levels in these patients that have been exposed to mold are usually normal. I have a massive load of the symptoms associated with mold exposure.. live in a water damaged home.. and have located mold.. but my CRP was slightly elevated at 10.2. Does this mean I should rule out the possibility of it being mold exposure? I have sudden onset of asthma symptoms, nose bleeds, dry red eyes, swollen salivary glands, major fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, chest pains, heart palpitations, eye floaters, blurry vision, flu symptoms that come and go... have been sick for about three years, ever since I moved into my new home. I never had an issue with getting sick before.. I could go on and on. I went to Dr. Carnahan's website thinking I would reach out for advice but I cannot afford the initial consultancy fee. I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. I am waiting on the results of the mold test to come back this week. My Pulmonologist said to move out of my townhouse asap. I had a lung biopsy two weeks ago, and the pathology came back as Chronic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. I had pneumonia back in June, and could not work, so I was in my house 24/7 for 6 months. I got so sick with pain everywhere, headaches, and had to walk with a walker because of joint swelling and pain. If the test come back showing toxic mold, is my landlord responsible? I know that the air conditioning pan overflowed at least 4 times, in the past 4 years, and the ceiling was not repaired at all. My lungs are permanently damaged now. Should I get rid of all my belongings? I'm really afraid!

Excellent video. I believe I suffered some mold sickness during the weekend woke up around 2 am with severe headache, joints pain, abdominal pain, tossing & turning all night. Woke up with diarrhea, stomach & abdominal pain, headache, eye pain, fatigue, thirst, weakness, etc. Due to Covid scare, suffered the Sat & Sun & fast for 48 hr. Went for Covid test on Mon, & result turned out negative. I felt better when I was out the house. I have suffered rash on my face for months thought it was due to the side effect of wearing mask. I have been doing IF & keto, & my seasonal allergy have stopped after since for more than a year, suddenly allergy symptoms reappeared a few weeks ago. I have been spending more time at home in the livingroom with water damaged on the wooden floor 2 - 3 yrs ago during the heavy rain in N. CA. Landlord hasn't changed the damaged floor yet after the flood. I think after I did the 5 day water fast in April, my body got more sensitive. I am running mold test in the livingroom.

I was told possibly IC due to mast cell activation disorder. How do you fix this issue?. The glutathione also had calcium carbonate in the ingredients which could have caused small crystals not picked up on the ultrasound. But I do feel its mast cell from possibly too much mycotoxins released. Help appreciated!

I still have some breathing issues, chronic fatigue, brain fog, joint pain especially in my left hand and my neck has been out for nearly a year and a half while I stay in physical therapy and inflammation. The ketogenic intermittent fasting food program is helping and making everything at home instead of buying it in the store is better for me. I bought a Vitamix and I make my homemade peanut butter occasionally and I will make my own bread with coconut flour and arrowroot occasionally when I'm not eating raw organic vegetables and fruit. I got type 1 diabetes in 2006 just out of the blue and my teeth fell out in my food, my scalp was full of bloody sores and I had psoriasis and execzema everywhere. It has been horrible experience to say the least and I'm lucky to be alive. Mold is a horrible thing and turned into candida as well but thank God it hasn't turned into cancer. I think that's the last thing on its list as it has done to my daughter and her mother-in-law (who recently passed away) along with my next door neighbor who is fighting for her life right now. I'm fighting as hard as I can. There is no place to go to get away from it. And I also believe the chemical trails in the sky are contributing greatly.

But I'm not seeing the markers that are discussed on there so I'm at a lost of what to do buy that mycotox profile from them or the specific ones from this video and also is there any one test for all these or are they all seperate? Or more importantly how do we convince the insurance companies to get these done ? is that even possible? or is this all going to have to be out of pocket for the gene testing etc?

I have all these symptoms for the last 6 years and now it's starting to affect my eyesight, skin, anger mood swings can't focus , menstrual periods screwed up , depression , numbness in my feet and hands , inflammation , headaches , no appetite , very dry skin ( on my face and right arm along with a red lesion , it's in my nose as well ... Interesting because I actually was living in a moldy place and found out I was allergic to mold and had severe shortness of breath. And was diagnosed with asthma which I believe I had a s a child and it was ignored I moved and it wasn’t too long after that I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Now fast forward and several episodes of being rushed to the hospital. Now I’m living in a place is 46 years old and absolutely there is mold which I tried as best to clean up what I saw on the outside but now I’m having severe shortness of breath. It should be an option to tear the building Down.
