Mokume Gane/Blood Wood Ring - How It's Made/DIY

In this week’s shop video we use a metal called Mokume Gane ("Wood Grain Metal" in Japanese) and combine it with blood wood to create a truly unique ring. The art of making Mokume Gane is very old and we now use it in our rings to create a new style of art! Please leave your comments below about what you like or disliked about this ring/video.

I made a lathe quickly from a drill and piece of steel. Worked pretty good and I got some cool wood rings. Made me want a small metal working lathe for working with both.

That looks great! I love the wood liner with the metal outer ring - I did one like this with a stainless steel band and zebrano liner.

Love all your creations! My Instagram is MirandaJonez My boyfriend is obsessed with your rings and has requested one of your rings as his wedding band. Also, seriously crazy how you make these rings and how people learned how to create something like that in the first place! Very interesting..
