    Great video! Thanks! But I think the Solidworks guru for all the previous model mania videos should also be credited as has been done in this and next videos. He did an amazing job for those tutorials too!

    5:19 is in error to the drawing and will result in an incorrect model. If you look at the model view the end of the cut opening goes through the center of the part but using the swept body the center axis of the swept boy projects through the center of the part thus resulting on the edge that is left not being on the center line but actually parallel and offset by the radius of the swept body.

    Like the combining of sketches all at once and then heavy use of the Selected Contour to create separate features rather than having sketch 1 - feature 1, sketch 2 - feature 2, etc. Makes it so much easier to get the job done and less chance for mistakes. Error proofing is easier this way. Thanks for posting. Preparing for that elusive CSWP.

    If i go through the whole steps as yours, then also my simulation results are coming out to be different (FOS minimum = 7.1) . I wonder what's the reason

    My point of view is this video more than shows a strict way to do things it offers more than one technique the knowledge of how to apply this knowledge is more valuable than just an angle value even correct or not

    Yeah, seems like there may have been some iffy choices made in the name of expediency. It's one thing to share how to use features... but this video is going to teach people less-than-ideal practices just to get something done ASAP. For the competition, I know. But most people watching it don't know anything/care about that competition.

    Why would you do modify a completed part after its been verified from production? Wouldn't you start over from scratch? Seems like modifying a corrupt model seems more half assed than making a rushed model with the correct dimensions.

    @@BrandonGraham I'm new to solidworks and I don't care about the competition, I care about the different ways to use features.

    I believe that the offset rotation at 17:29 should have been 30°, not 45° (as 120° - 45° - 45° = 30°). Here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/k5V7mLCbo6TUmZs.html

    Where are you getting 120° from? The part model says 90°?

  • @HoundDogRock

    @HoundDogRock

    @@Themayseffect Ah, it seems like the instructor's drawing differs from the one currently on the Model Mania site. His drawing mentions a cut of 90° from the center of the hole, whereas the phase 2 drawing on Model Mania mentions a 120° cut. So he is correct in this video, but it should be a face displacement of 30° when following the updated Model Mania drawing.

    @@HoundDogRock I agree with you. I have the same drawing as you. When you ran your simulation, what did you end up getting for your FOS? I got a slightly different number than the video and wanted to know if it was because I modeled it to the current model mania website drawing which shows 120 degrees. I got a FOS of around 4.
