The Modbap Osiris Bi-Fidelity Wavetable Oscillator melts my face clean off. In this video, I'll show you why. I'll also show you how to make your own wavetables for it using OSIRISedit! Make sure to check out the performances on my second channel, I'm really stoked how they came out: • 4 Performances with th...

    What really blows me away with your videos is your consummate mastery of the equipment. I wonder how much time you spend practising and perfecting your muscle memory with these modules so you can navigate them so flawlessly. It's amazing to see that and it means your creativity isn't crippled by fiddle farting about with controls. Super fun to watch.

    I've been waiting for this one (and your jams) to drop. It sounds fucking huge and gnarly and wonderful. I'm super excited to get my hands on one. The fact that the sub is effectively a completely separate voice if you want it to be -- along with the built in VCA for the primary voice makes this huge for folks building smaller systems. Modbap coming in HOT with this one.

    This whole setup is absolutely enormous sounding and just has so much presence. While I'm convinced you could make an Atari Punk Console sound good, it's truly something else to hear what you've put together here.

    I'm really happy and somewhat surprised about how gigantic the sound here is too. Looking at the other modular stations I have and thinking, huh, maybe I don't need all this shit. Which was always the point with this main rig.

    Osiris reminds me of wavetable soft synths like serum in ways that other wavetable modules don't. Combining with maestro feels very daw. Very ableton. Very bass music. But generative!!

    I already have the Maestro and the pod case. I like this idea so much I ordered 3 Navigators and a Mult. This frees space in the main rack for my new Liquid Glitcher, and a few other tweaks. ;-) After all, what's the point in unused free HP when you have modules in a box collecting dust or getting less use. That VCO has been in and out of my wish list several times so far. I'm a sucker for stereo VCO's as a rule. The Maestro just keeps getting more and more useful. If those guys make a version 2 of Maestro I can't imagine how essential it will be.

    Hi, have been following your channel with a lot of interest. Much appreciated. Question on the XAOC Minsk: any alternative? How about the Gemini's Path from Shakmat? I am already using my Analog Heat Mk2 to tune my mid-side aspect. Just would like to "recuperate" some stereo from the Osiris. Thank you

    I sold my Cloud Terrarium because it was HUGE, and I found it not especially playable, though it could sound incredible. So I'm back on the hunt for a wave table Osc eventually. But I'm fairly space constrained.

    The Osiris is a cool concept, at the same time it's based on bandlimited wavetables (WaveEdit) which are unacceptably low-quality, and has no Windows support. Great video! Thanks! EDIT: Because they both use a permutation of WaveEdit, this problem occurs in E352 Cloud Terrarium as well. No overtones above the 128th in any waveshape - meaning bass-frequency patches will have a noticeable bandlimit in the highs.

    The module doesn't use bandlimited oscillators, although most of the factory tables are bandlimited on purpose to mitigate aliasing that could occur on very high frequencies. It is of course possible to import/use as sharp waveforms as you'd like, but you'd have to cut the waveforms together yourself instead of OsirisEdit. It just takes standard wav files, no proprietary format.

  • @Worldwave

    @Worldwave

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@sm0hm I'm assuming you speak from experience knowing the Osiris doesn't have antialiasing filters on the output? I don't know, but IMO it's a very basic thing to properly support wavetables: they need to be high-res. If anti-aliasing is required, it needs to be there. Knowing it takes any WAV format is comforting though! Do you maybe know how it handles frames internally? I'm assuming it takes every 256 samples as a frame. In which case, I'd still be correct that it's too low-res.

    Have you tried using the Maestro’s onboard attenuation with those sensitive inputs on Osiris? It’s definitely nice to have to control on attenuation of the sliders on the Navigators but I am just curious if Maestro is usable with Osiris on its own. Btw this video rules.
