The green salamander was a beauty. More green then most I've seen.

I’ve only seen a few Greens in this county, but they’re all the prettiest I’ve ever found.

I don't know how I can search so religiously and rarely find reptiles! You walk down the road and they greet you with a smile.

That's what I'm saying!!! I'm out there every single day and maybe find 1 small snake per 2 weeks. And he's out here catching them left and right every 30 minutes

The only reason I was so persistent is because I wanted to put it somewhere that would be better to flip since I figured it was useless right there. Guess I was wrong 😂

Love all your videos. My 8 year old son and I watch all of them together.

I liked the comparison of the corn and milk snake. That sort of thing is definitely nice for the folks who are still learning. Obviously you can't always get two different species side by side, but I am sure people would appreciate more educational stuff if or when the opportunity presents itself. Great video as always.

Great vid, I have been herping since I was 5 but I am starting the Appalachian trail tomorrow which starts in Georgia and can’t wait to see what I can find👍🤔

I see people walking this same path at dusk and dark without lights too. You have to wonder what percentage of bites in the US occur under those circumstances.

@@NKFherping I'm terrible. When we pass a group without flashlights, I start saying as we pass them, "Man! That was the biggest rattlesnake I've seen right on the path!!"

Had my first outing today (March 31) in extreme SE NE. Got approx 100 ringnecks, 3 racers, 2 worms and 1 milk. Had to grind pretty hard, high was 55 and completely over cast. Warmer temps next week.

If you are serious about doing this I would recommend you contact Dr. Harry Greene at UT Austin. He may be able to give you good guidance. If you are unfamiliar with Dr. Greene, Google him and you will see that he is a giant among herpetologists. His email is easy to find. Good luck to you!

Went to Houston this spring, video coming soon! Unfortunately there isn’t a straightforward path to working with herps for a living, but I’d recommend starting with aiming for a Biology degree. That’s what the vast majority the people I know who spend the most time working with herps do.

My Eastern milksnakes are both in shed and not looking their best right now. I'm sure that they are gonna be hungry whenever they shed.

I thought cottonmouths lived by sea level elevation but you can find them in around Atlanta but upstate SC they are very scarce.Everybody around here calls waters snakes water moccasins

I’ve been seeing those king snakes in Stockbridge, GA (over in my father’s garden/ mostly in the strawberry patches)… I noticed the milk snake’s habitat was being disturbed a bit much. It’s better to try to put it back the same way it was, as they don’t camouflage as well as some other species. A bird of prey would love to come and pick them off.

Possibly, I haven’t seen them in those areas personally though. Their textbook habitat is larger rock outcrops with humid but not necessarily wet crevices. You can often see them by looking in such crevices with a flashlight.

Watching this and seeing yet another Cottonmouth neither chase or attack you, got me thinking about all your encounters with them that of course went same way. Have you ever thought about doing a compilation video of all (or at least as many as are relevant) your encounters with cottonmouths to show that they never attack or chase people? You could call it my many encounters with Cottonmouths! or something with a big image of one gaping in the thumbnail, just to lure in the people who believe that nonsense. It probably won't change all their minds, maybe even not a lot of their minds, but if it changes some minds it would be worth it I think. Maybe some of the other YT herpers like Will Robertson might be willing to do it too. Anyway, just a thought, feel free to use it if you like the idea.

Sadly, there are real people out there that think I’m secretly cherry picking my cottonmouth encounters to falsely represent their behavior. For most of those types, I think it’s just willful ignorance at this point. But there are many more intelligent people who have changed their minds when presented with the abundant evidence I show on the channel that Cottonmouths are not malicious. I probably will do a compilation of Cottonmouth encounters at some point, that’s a great idea!

One more question- do king snakes only eat snakes or will they eat everything else too?

They’re pretty generalized, but I think snakes and rodents are their preference.

Hey, great vid man! Quick question if u see it, how long do u get out of wooden boards before you have to replace them? I’ve had an 20 boards out for ab 3 years and they’re still doing okay but Ik eventually I’ll need to replace em. How long do u normally get?

The osb and particle board tends to rot much faster, and usually I only get 2-3 years at best out of it. Higher quality plywood can last 5+ years when placed in an area it will dry out.

Could you say what county you were in where the Cottonmouth was seen,all i heard was metro Atlanta and i have not seen them North of Atlanta.Love the video's
