Why is this not done at the time of manufacture? It doesn't matter where it will delivered to, warm or cold climates. When you insulate it protects the home from any weather to keep the utilites as low as possible.

Of course there is insulation & a belly board or a vinyl or fabric put on the underside of mobile homes when they are manufactured. This isn't a brand new home, and as time passes, shit happens. Water pipe breaks & you have to cut open the underwrap & take out insulation in that spot to repair the pipe. Rodents, cats, raccoons, etc. get in through a crack or opening in the skirting & tear open the underwrap to get up in there & keep warm - or worse nest.

Mine came with the underbelly insulation. But a problem made in fall away. Think the plumbing out pipe leaked from the kitchen. I had professional business relevel, and they fixed it and good thing, as I live in Minnesota.

I'm in Kentucky and I had some plumbing repairs done but the underbelly wasn't repaired. Looking for people to do this because I have cold spots in my home.

A mobile home should be set up like it's over a basement with no insulation under the floors. Just insulate the skirting and Heat The Underneath. Now you have heated floors and access to all the plumbing if necessary.

If you buy a new one , get a mobile with standard rated R value and good weather protection from the factory, In Canada some are R 40 floors

Thanks for the comment. I live in Minnesota, and while I can do that heat tape for the incoming, my water will freeze up in the underbelly , leaving frozen water lines to across the house, kitchen, bathroom.

Great video, but I had to laugh when talking about vapor barrier. I live in the desert and that vapor barrier would last until the next flash flood comes up my drive way and washes it out into my backyard. I'm still trying to figure out how to replace the cheap plastic skirting that blows out every time we get high winds (60+mph winds). What you do would be great for those that live in a mobile home park or on a lot in town, but not out where I live. Thanks for sharing.

The previous owner of my mobile home was eligible for weatherization program and they blew the foam in underneath the belly of the mobile home but they did nothing else. That was back in 2018 and would it be too late to put some kind of a belly board up now? There is no one who does mobile homes near me or even the radius of about 50 miles. As much as I like watching these videos I get very frustrated because there's nothing I can do.

Thank you so much for this video. I was getting birds nest on the back of my projects but it was random... it sews great and then jams.. I looked at my bobin case and it looks like every few times the thread is not catching. I am going to try to raise my bobin case plates like you show and see if that works.

It is almost impossible for me to find anyone that does mobile home repairs such as this video is showing including windows, doors, skirting... everything. I didn't manage to find an excellent roofer. He had to travel from North Carolina with his crew to do my roof and I'm up in New England.

Close your vents and make sure the skirting is sealed good and you will have no swirling air. And if your floors are cold just insulate the skirting 6 inch thick, get rid of all the insulation under the floor and put a heater under there now you have heated floors. And access to any and all your plumbing that you want to do. And make storage area under there now it's warm and dry.Seal it good from dirt to floor and you won't even have bugs.
