No one has noticed the main prevailing theme of this video. He is bashing critics. Not the movie. Most of you are so close minded that you seem to think that this video was seriously about the movie. Trash... A movie about absolute idealism and dreams will teach someone nothing and harm them in the future. As Max stated, it is too ideal. I like movies about hardship and realistic problems, not where if I sing at my enemies long enough, they will die of boredom and I will get my stone back and all of my problems are resolved.

I remember when teen boys created national grab ass day and national rape day back when I was in school. It was gross, they were all very excited over it. edit: just searched it up and I guess teen boys have decided national rape day needed to be memed again a DECADE LATER. There was a facebook event with that name back in 2010, our school actually cancelled classes that day because parents were worried, since we had a handful classmates joking about "attending." I teach and I'd much rather have a class of girls, they aren't disruptive and they don't harass or vandalize.

I disliked because I found it to be a rather weak ramble with a clickbait title and a rather obvious point "not every movie is for everyone". And I don't see anything wrong with perfect worlds in fiction and Moanas struggle between living to the expectations and desire to explore the world - while being like the worst Disney cliché - is somewhat relatable for most of the people even if they are not attractive princesses.

At least we can all agree that Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure is one of the best animated films of it's time. Unlike a lot of animated films from that period, where their musical numbers are completely forgettable and boring, I still find myself humming No Girl's Toy and some of the other tunes from that film.

You know watching Moana actually made me MISS Lilo and Stitch, because her problems ARE relatable and sad, she lost her parents, her sister is the person looking after her and struggles. She nearly gets taken away by social services. These are all REAL troubles and seeing an animated movie that hits closer to home now and again is nice. I ended up liking Sing but apparently everyone hates that movie :/

There are a few relatable issues in Mona. Like having expectations placed unfairly on you, dealing with outdated traditions, and being placed into a situation where your previous experiences are of little help.

Hardly that's the problem every single Disney princess/female main character has to deal with anyways it's not interesting or new and usually not even done that well. Lets not forget Ariel's father, Bell's entire village, Pocahontas's father too who had similar exceptions. Elsa's entire kingdom, every Disney Princess wants /more/ in life and every time they express this they sigh sadly because they can't have it until the plot demands it. She wasn't even struggling with outdated traditions, she seemed okay with the idea of taking care of her village what she wasn't okay with was being confined only to her island. Which wasn't even a tradition that was only her father's doing. The village was voyagers and in one of the songs it shows the chef going out to sea before giving that freedom and responsibility to another in the lineage. (You can tell by the headdress they wear) The thing that separates Lilo from Moana is that Lilo's problems are relatable because she's dealing with modern issues. Being taken away from social services? That's a very real and very close to home fear that parents in low income housing have to deal with and children have to deal with when they lose their parents. I'm not saying that Moana doesn't try to be relatable but rather the movie fails in it's attempts because her reliability is cookie cutter. For instance Mulan? Had to deal with discrimination of being a woman in a time where women weren't allowed to fight and stepped up to save her father even if that meant death and dishonor to her family. That's a very similar issue of outdated traditions but it hits closer to home because there was more work put into this internal and external conflict and a longer amount of time that they dwell on her struggle. Which also doesn't go away by the conclusion of the movie, it's doesn't suddenly become irrelevant once Mulan leaves.

I think what people mean more is a strong female character who isn't defined by a love interest... it's really not that often to have female leads that AREN'T based on loving a dude or have a love interest some how be part of their story, even if they are strong.

Paint Dweller Merida = whole purpose at the beginning of the story was to find a suitor to get married -> major conflict Elsa = the story is about the two sisters and Ana wants to get married the first few minutes of the movie, dude turns out to be a villain in the end Moana = not even talk about anything related to the topic, it just does not have any contribution to the story, you see, still a difference

You know what Disney movie really fucking sucked in retrospect? Frozen. The entirety of the movie could have been avoided if they didn't lock up Elsa all her life and suppress her emotions. Worst fucking parents ever. No matter they died immediately after that.

Moana was actually kind of groundbreaking because it really opened up Polynesian traditions to mainstream culture and therefore made people more aware of their actually quite intriguing mythology. It wasn't just about some princess who stood up for herself, the main point of Moana was to share such an unknown culture to the ignorant media.

Why was this movie getting all kinds of praise for designing Moana with more realistic body proportions*, but no one was pointing out how silly it looks for her to be paired up with a guy as ridiculously huge as Maui? *It's a cartoon and everyone KNOWS it's a cartoon. Girls and women aren't feeling pressured to look their best just because Princess Aurora was drawn with a tiny waist.

Yes the movie probably isn't "perfect" but when it came out I loved it. 4 months before release date I found the movies soundtrack on spottify and tbh I listened to it everyday for hours. I was so excited when the movie finally was in our cinemas (in autstria ) and I loved it. I am a person who loves when something looks pretty, and that movie is so aestetically pleasing to my eyes! Nice color schemes, bright colors (but not neon), beautiful scenery, and overall the animation was so cute and beautiful. Plus I love the music in it. I adore the voice acting. And I like that it has a part where the heroine fails and wants to quit. And her weird grandma singing to her... that gave me tears in my eyes and shiver down my spine when that girl sings "But the voice isn't out there at all, it's inside me". Like wow. I am 27 now and I still adore this movie. I understand if some people don't like it, but for me it just brings me in a positive mood.

Welp, that was depressing....

Yeah. As a Polynesian I was very very happy that this movie came out, my whole family went to watch it and me and my sisters cried. But, also, as a Polynesian, the movie definitely could’ve been better. I’m not good at explaining things but basically it was just too general with the whole Polynesian cultural part and then there were MANY parts that weren’t really cultural at all … the music definitely could’ve been done better (example: to my knowledge, Alesia Cara who did the credits version of Moana’s song is Canadian of Italian descent, like they didn’t even want to look for a popular Polynesian singer for this they just went for the popular young adult instead 🙄). But that’s just me, my nieces and nephews LOVE that there is a Polynesian representation in Disney and I’m happy they’re happy.

I was talking about personal experience and "shape you to their desire" wasn't a sexual innuendo??? It just meant that there are people that over criticize you to belittle you and make your personality more palatable to THEM... When did I say Max did anything of the sort? I clearly generalized by saying *people* so i was 100% not referring to Max giliardi in particular, who was obviously just joking here for the sake of the video, the problem is exactly taking the joke as a statement and internalizing the message. If you truly end up believing "teenage girls are awful nobody can stand them" as a teenage girl is damaging to your self image... And with my comment I wanted to help her seeing that it's okay being an "annoying" teenage girl and to love yourself for who you are at the moment...

I was honestly interested to hear a well-constructed argument from someone who disagreed with me. Then I was a little upset when none of your reasons for hating the movie had any basis. In fact you didn't have any reasons. THEN I realized that I have felt the same way about some movies. They made me depressed for presenting me with an image I could never come close to. For a long time, I couldn't watch tangled because the princess was freakin beautiful and I couldn't bare to look at her even if I loved the movie. It was insecure, biased, and petty but I couldn't help feeling that way. So. . .ya I guess I liked the video

@@mahirahmed6523 To be fair, it´s his middle name. It was, and in some families still is, common practice here, to name your child after their godparent. My Dads Godfather was Named Adolf, and only 10 years younger than the Adolf, most people think of when they hear the Name. My Father was never teased over his middle Name back then, wich was not very common, but also not at all extinct, combined with the fact, that most poeple dont really care about middle names.
