I think the reason this show works so well is that he's clearly enjoying himself and it's just so contagious

Not quite. It's a good reason for some of it. A more significant chunk is that it's a game that actually has progress. Another good reason is the style of content; that of Solo TTRPG. TTRPG content is flooded with group content, and groups that directly interact with the audience and thus make no progress. Those same groups rely on the rule of cool quite often and destroy the pacing of their own gane even further. Frankly speaking, I rather like how this is presented. Minus the excessive camera jumping. I get it for the NPC's, but outside of that, it's honestly a little jarring. He also has a habit of forcing the narrative in his favor on rare occasions. Thankfully it doesn't negatively impact the pacing or narrative too much. The music/audio is absolutely on point as well. The addition of artwork actually does a lot as well. Not that the man isn't pretty, but it does help with the immersion of the descriptions. 😏

Completely agree!
Major plot twist...Simon is tracking him. He just wanted to say hello.
"Oh no! It's a 6! That's okay I can reroll!"....."OH NO! It's the exact same result!" Oh my god this made me laugh too hard
@YannMiollan
2 жыл бұрын
That was SO UNEXPECTED! What are the odds to reroll *exactly* the same results!
I just came up with a desire of a behind the scenes episode: how the process looks, double takes and bloopers. That would be fun to watch.

I agree. Also, I’d love to see an episode at some point where you (Trevor) compare your season 1 vs season 2 experiences, maybe with your thoughts of Ironsworn itself. ( Hopefully these would be less heavy on the editing for you ...Perhaps ideas for an episode or two for when the day job restricts your time, Trevor?)

Are those bracers of storytelling +2 ?
OMG, they way he interpreted Restore Family hahaha, brilliant

His imagination is amazing!
There's a few things to say here: 1) That fight scene was so intense. Arne never had the upper hand and it had me squirming in my seat! 2) That menace track had me going, "oh no! Not the family! Not the family!" and 3) Digging those bracers! Tune in next week, as Trevor loses the modern shirt and dons heavy furs & leather armor, thus completing his transformation into Arne for Me, Myself & Die!
“He must pay the price” is a great t-shirt idea!
Kif, get my Ironsworn watching pants.
The spider worked really well. I'm first thought was a necromancer that restored his family back to life. Yea, the spider was a lot better idea. Awesome!
"Try to kill it with the spear!" with Arnold Schwarzenegger's impression. Love it! :) Ps. Hmmm Arn(old) Kalapunkee hehe

The episode premieres at 18:00 for me. I leave my work at 17:00. Just enough time to appreciate a cup of homemade coffee, eat a nice piece of cake, and then watch the shenanigans of Arn "Havensbane" Kalapunki. #HideYourElves
I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy Ironsworn, but this show made me give it a goal at co-op with a friend and it was great. I'm amazed at your storytelling expertise, and thanks for the excellent show.
The thing hunting Arn may not be caught up yet, but I finally am! Next episode will be the first one I'll actually have to wait for.
Simon: *Bad luck to himself and suffers from it* Arn: *Bad luck for others and just screw the consequences*
The way he portrayed those eggs made me think he's about to encounter some facehuggers lol then he puts out a tyranid LOL Man i am curious what's hunting him!
This show open me up to solo role play! I was shock, many people have been doing this for years! I did not know! Thx i love the story so far and where this is going!
You mentioned Rolescape to help keep track of your campaign. I would like to mention another that your viewers might like (I am not affiliated with it, get no money for mentioning it, etc, I just think it's really great and the guy making it is really pouring a lot of effort into it) call The Augur. It collects everything you need (assets, moves, oracles, a dice roller, a journal and more) in one spot and he is adding new stuff on a regular basis. Again, I get nothing for mentioning it. I just find it useful as a player.
This episode did nothing to help with my arachnophobia... I just love the way you narrate your battles! This show is hands down my best entertainment of every week
I know in the past Trevor mentioned that he was inspired to create this show by seeing what Matt Mercer is doing with Critical Role but the fact that Trevor is able to produce, edit, and record this show by himself and make it so entertaining at the same time proves to me that this show is far better than Critical Role, which has a number of people working on it directly and behind the scenes. The amount of talent and skill that's going into Me, Myself & Die is underappreciated.
Great episode. I love the menace following Arn and they way you are tracking the threat.
Wow! The Delve moves really made the journey very tense! The menace track works great as well. Something is coming! 😊 Thanks for another great episode.
Great episode! I really thought he was going to get that nice logging family all killed, like he did the elves. He does seem to leave a trail of destruction in his wake.

Well, I'm a little worried that The Threat might kill them when it gets there.... :O
Only found this channel a couple of weeks ago, but have already watched all of the videos! Amazing storytelling. Thank you so much for sharing it with us all, it’s such a treat to watch you weave the prompts and rolls into such a compelling story. The acting and voices are just the icing on the cake.
i love the nature of solo rpg because when i first heard “restore family” my initial thought was “oh, obviously a necromancer”
Now I’m just going to sit here and stare at the title screen for the next 5 hours 😂
Love the show, Mr. Devall. I am now able to play and understand Ironsworn mechanic because of this show. Thank you so much, Mr. Devall. Hail, Lord Arn Kalapunki!
How dare you give me something to look forward to by continuing to produce quality entertainment! Who do you think you are sir? I SAID WHO!
That reddit thread showed up just as I was re-reading Ironsworn. Binged both seasons these past few days and really got an understanding of how oracles, soloing and this whole game fits together. I can‘t see myself playing as randomly determined as you, but it sure is fun to watch!
I really have enjoyed both of these series! I really have been impressed of how imaginative and creative Trevor has been. It really has inspired me to play my own solo rpg, I’ve gotten some really creative ideas from this show! Thanks Trevor for the great show, even with a simple travel through the wood, you leave us on the edges of our seats!
The fight with the wannabe Shelob was absolutely a masterpiece! But what really made my day was that it all came up from the hint "restore family"! Your thought process doesn't cease to amaze
I really like the hunter mechanic!
Brilliant brilliant brilliant BRILLIANT.. no wait.... it`s beyond brilliant.
You're very talented and charismatic. Thanks for the adventures.
Discovered this series a few days ago and finally caught up. ABSOLUTELY LOVE this.
I'm about halfway through season 2 now and this is... Magnificent! This is Conan at it's best and the charisma and quality you bring is astounding! Thank you, sir! If this were a book series, i would read it.
Already excited with the next episode. Watching this series is one of the most enjoyable things to do here on youtube. I'm back to solo rpg after a long while thanks to your show Trevor, cause you've inspired us all 😍😍
5:59 gawd... finally after 3 years, this last December (but stilltill at least January) we have not been able to do so... Thanks for these videos and stories!
Whew! That was a... sticky situation! And that ending was definitly a cliff-hanger.
Coffee, balnket and the wonderful imagination and gameplay from an enthusiastic and equally excited Trevor.
Call the creature a Megarachnid and you've got a link in to the 40K universe. Another great episode.
I've been absolutely loving this show. You got me into playing ironsworn. I started last night and i've been playing this morning as well! I would love to see your note taking process. Maybe that could be a Patreon perk?
I'm loving the use of Delve!
Great episode!
That spider fight was so intense! I am fully invested in this story. The menace track has me on the edge of my seat.
Thanks again Trevor for bringing us along on this fantastic adventure!
Arn made a pair of silk pants from the spider's web. They look good, but the fly gets stuck. Another great episode. Thank you.
Phew! What a ride! Another strong and "edge of your seat" episode! Trevor this romp through the Ironlands is fantastic! Thank you once again for sharing your passion, your time and your storytelling craft. Hope you have an awesome week!
" Really high end stuff here" I did laugh out loud
Another entertaining episode thank you. Looking forward to your next episode and to see what system you'll try out next. Scarlet Heroes might be a good D&D like experience tailored for solo play.
A rather optimistic episode, considering Arne's penchant for disaster. Great show!
You deserve more attention. This is fantastic!
Great episode! Can't wait to see how things resolve next time!
18:55 starts a great throwback to #SimonSucks 😂
Awesome episode! 👍
Thank you for another terrific video, Trevor. I’m really enjoying the ironsworn run, it makes me want to pull out my rulebook every time. (Stay safe, stay well.... we you and Arne fighting fit for the next instalment. )
Thought Arn was cashing in his chips there! Well done Arn! Another great episode - keep it up, its great to watch and follow. :-) Worried about the family, they are going to get killed by the thing hunting Arn. We may not be witness to it but we all know it will happen!
That is a fantastic map of the Ironlands!
You're such a great story-teller!
Fantastically episode, Trevor! Me, Myself and Die is always so much fun to watch.
Thanks Trevor. Great job.
Once more an exciting and dramatic story! We done Trevor!
Using different minis from different games is what dm’ing is all about ;)
Such a great production!
Wow! Amazing episode Trevor!
Bravo. I thought you were a goner today. I wonder if Hoggvandill is the thing that tracks you? Hmmm. Really top-notch quality you do on your shows Trevor. I tell everyone to watch your shows.

Ooooh there was a scene at the very beginning of Episode 7 about something like this!
tremendous thank you!
Wonderful, as always. This show is so inspiring. Thank you.
Woot woot. I got the Arn Kalapunki Monday blues. Can't wait.
17:00 NOOPE!! NOOOOOOOPPPPEEE!!!!
I love how mysteriusly you played the meanece, even if it's easy to deduce what is it, it added a lot to the athosphere. I'm really curious how that encounter will play out when it happens.
As always, great episode!
Hey Trevor ! I love the show, and I'm glad to see so many people enjoying it as well. Personally, I would love to see more content on this channel once it picks up steam :D I don't know if you've ever heard of Degenesis, but I think it's a game you could enjoy reading, if not playing. The books are free on DTRPG or on the website. Cheers !
Excellent!
Man, it's so cool
Classic episode, love it
No rest for the mysterious hunter tracking Arn, huh? I guess there's no rest for the _wicked,_ especially for those damned to the _bone_ - if it is who I think it is. ;) If a certain who caughts up with Arn, and big bad boy Thaugolos shows up, it will be an epic scene with three characters whose fates are bound to Ulvetan in some way: He Who _Needs,_ It Who _Wants,_ and It Who _Fears._ Let us pray to the dice!
Another great one!
Huzzah! Welcome back! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
19:54 🎤 🎶 They are young, they are green Keep their fangs nice and clean 🎶
Get in, waiting with anticipation
Wonder if Shawn has watched this? You mixing the delve and Journey moves was very cool!
Okay, I love the show. But a spider bite being poisonous is unexpected? You must have some cuddly arachnids where you live then lol 🤣
In woman’s voice: Double sixes, double sixes ! Killed me
I bet you're really good at reading bedtime stories lol
Are you transforming more and more into Arn? #leathergauntlets
Hey Trevor, Just watching through this series again and just loving it. :) I notice you run your games like a proper story, so it's part-rpg, part serial story. I was wondering if you have any advice you can share to make these games more like a well-told story, like the ones you seem to tell here? I really want to add some of these elements to the games that I run myself. (I know we're more conflict-designers really, as you have pointed out, but would still like to enhance my games with some of these elements) Any ideas you can share would be super super appreciated. Thanks again for such a great series to follow. :)
My sword is ready!
Did the gossamer remind him of long silky hair as one may find on a woman?
Is the threat the killer rabbit from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail?" Too bad Arne doesn't have the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. 😉
omg!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much fun! Love the bracers. Thanks for the great episode this week, lightens my mood every Monday. [Also any new comers, please come chat in the fan discord! discord.gg/NVvkrf23 ☺️ (we have cake) ]

Hi Trevor, wanted to ask - what music do you use? Some of it is absolutely serene. Do you have a list of the artists so we can buy the same for some of our personal games?

I commissioned original compositions for seasons 2 & 3, but most of the incidental music was through a service provided my my co-producer. All the info is at the end credits of each episode :)

Keep watching…. All will be revealed.
watchin in 2022, just at 7:50 so far. but I've been wondering since last episode, is there a blacksmith in this town now, and is Arn actually going to fix the spear before going after the dragon? seems like and oversight if he's just going right for it now because it was spotted rather than taking the dragons retreat as a chance to spend a bit more time trying to repair the spear before it comes back or he goes after it. at 20:30 now, guess he does have the spear fixed?
Where can I get those cool wrist/ forearm leather thingy's...anyone one know ?
wait a minute I know I am late to this series but when did the spear get reforged?
Great episode!
