Did Reggie's comments hit a nerve? He was asked a question and he answered it truthfully, which took about four minutes out of a multihour program. Would you have preferred that he lied and said that everything was great during that time when he played there and they all joined hands and sang kumbyya. His brief comments elaborated on actually why there was even a Negro League in the first place. Also, this event was not specifically has to celebrate Willie Mays. It was to celebrate the Negro League players, specifically the ones that played at Rickwood Field, of which Willie Mays was one. He was too ill to make the trip there and, unfortunately, two days before the event. So, Reggie's comments did not take anything away from Willie Mays' event because the event was more than a celebration of Willie Mays. It was a celebration about the Negro League at Rickwood Field.
