    Cubs fan here...not sure Sosa really deserves to get in...he was too much of a one trick pony, with that trick relying on the juice. His frame was a 25-35 HR/season frame, which was what he averaged his first 7-8 years, not the 53/season he averaged the next 7-8 years. Maybe if he averages 30-35/season and does it clean for 15 years, he gets in the mid to upper 400s and has a shot. There are other guys who are known juicers that I think could get in on other merits...Palmeior had 3000 hits, ARod had scored 2000 runs, had 3000 hits and 2000 RBIs, Bonds was basically the same as ARod...2200 runs, 2935 hits, 2558 walks and 1996 RBIs. Manny....career .312 batting average with 2500 hits. Guys like McGuire and Sosa who don’t have any other career stats, besides HRs, that jump off the page at you, just don’t deserve to get in....IMHO.

    Griffey had a natural power swing it was amazing to see im glad i was born in 1980 i got to see some of the greatest athletes ever noone can swing a bat with thst kinda effortless form as did jr

    J. J. Bleday has a swing very similar to Ken Griffey Jr. during the college World Series Espn put the two side by side and it was shockingly similar. Bleday went 4th overall to the Marlins.

    Thome and Griffey are 2 of the best of all time...not just as players, but congeniality, likability and all around good people. No controversy, no steroids. What a ballplayer should be.

    Harry Kalas's call of Schmidt's 500 still gives me the chills even though I've heard it a million times. Just the way he goes from totally chill to "SWING AND A LONG DRIVE..." in an instant.

    Joey Jay finished with 99 wins and 999 Strikeouts, lol. And he WON 21 games twice (in a row). Gee Walker had 954 Runs, 1,991 Hits, 399 Doubles, 997 RBI, and a .294 Average. Biggest "Hard Luck" players I know about.

    I think all those guys should still get in. Why you may ask? They all new PED's had been going on for a long time and after the strike baseball was in a huge rut. Those guys brought the asses to the seats again for a number of years. Everyone benefitted from it but you don't hear them talking about giving all that money back they earned from those guys using.

    @@robloxpro2463 Nah. Look at guys that take roids, their swings are super aggressive, that's because of the roids. Ken had a super sweet, natural swing that's born of two things: Natural born talent and having a Professional ball player as a dad. It's a mechanically perfect swing.

    the guy who caught Jim Thome's HR did not realize it was his 500th until security came down and got him. He was from out of town on business and wanted to see a baseball game. He gave the ball back to him not asking for anything

    Baseball isn't only a competitive sport but even the amount of sportsmanship seen in these clips is unreal. Both teams congratulated him and left the dugout, even the bullpens and managers came to say congrats on such a milestone.

    My son Ethan is a big Ken Griffey Jr. and i am a big Cardinals fan. it was a Great day as we got to see Griffey's 500th Home Run. it was one of the best days for father and son to share an AWESOME experience. I miss that feeling...

    Underrated in the fact that when one mentions the "suprerstars" of the 90s, his name usually isn't there, like Bonds, Sosa McGwire Junior or A Rod. Also, when he played, he really wasn't a household name outside of the cities where he played.

    @@wargiam Nelson Cruz's error, and the Texas Ranger's Bullpen in 2011 gave you that ring. Hamilton's 10th inning HR to go up by 2 in extras should have been enough in game 6.

    Even with all of the injuries he's still regarded as a top 10 player of all time. He would have had the greatest resume in the history of the game if he stayed healthy. Its crazy that one of the greatest all time, who was almost unanimously voted into the hall of fame, is still regarded as one of the biggest "what-ifs" in the history of the game. THATS how good he was

    Richard Figueroa Pudge and Mike piazza disagree loll. Both definitely juiced and were named several times in reports. They were just too well liked by the fans to accuse them of it. Nonetheless they were both great athletes and probably didn’t need them anyways.

I agree but sadly some of my favorite players juiced (A-Rod, Sammy Sosa) the sad thing is none of those players probably needed them and more then likely hurt em more than it helped. It’s hard to blame them back when they were legal in the game but still disappointing...

    You people act like an athlete that sticks a needle full of hgh into his ass gives him Superman advantages that allows him to slow down the game and hit every ball extra hard. Doesn't matter how much steroids you pump into your asscheeks, you can't hit a home run without actually hitting the ball. Steroids don't give your eyes muscles, Adderall does lol

    Thomas Daniels yes, you still have to make contact, but the unnatural added strength of steroids or hgh turns 350 ft flyouts into 400 ft homers. Not that difficult to understand. Not to mention the man was literally caught using a corked bat in a game.

    Imagine being the lady with the disposable camera behind the Griffeys! Wow I hope those photos got developed... Also refreshing to see people enjoying the moment, not everybody holding their phones. A few people have cameras, sure, but the majority are just taking it all in.

    @@dzghost1597 He started getting hurt in 01 at the age of 32 and he still wound up with 630. He would have easily had another 130 if he would have played full seasons and didn't lose his bat speed due to injuries.

    I saw A-Rods 500th in my first-ever visit to Yankee Stadium in 2007. Not a yankee fan but was with a group and cheered nonetheless. Surprised it wasnt here.
