The best part of this video is the last clip. Not because of the play, but to be able to listen to Phil Rizzuto again. HO-LEE COW! I believe his partner in this clip is Bill White. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The most impressive homerun I ever saw was Reggie Jackson against Dock Ellis in the 1971 All Star game at Tiger Stadium. It hit a light transformer on the roof or it would have left the stadium by a great distance. It was not one of those popups that is carried by wind that is common in today's stadiums. It was before steroids. It was against a very good pitcher. It is considered the third longest homerun ever hit at 539 feet. Babe Ruth is credited with hitting 2 homeruns that were 575 feet in 1921. Mickey Mantle hit the facade in old Yankee Stadium twice which which be around 550 feet. Some stadiums were not large, such as Wrigley and Fenway, so hitting a ball out of a stadium might or not be impressive. Old Yankee Stadium was huge, which is why no one ever hit one out the stadium.

IMO if you manage to hit a homerun out of the stadium you have your name and the date engraved on a plaque somewhere in the stadium, regardless of what team the player’s on.

I am a little late but for you guys talking about the Fresno ballgirl climbing the wall here's an excerpt from an interview following the video... "Mr. PAUL KENNEDY (Director, Media and Public Relations, Fresno Grizzlies): Thank you very much for having me. SIMON: So how does she make such a spectacular leap, and how did this happen to be taped? Mr. KENNEDY: Well, it was filmed as part of a national television ad campaign for a major beverage company that has since fallen by the wayside, I believe. The campaign, not the company. A production company came in in mid-April to Chukchansi Park here in Fresno. They filmed our game, and then they worked through the night to get this stunt choreographed and pull it off. But the star of the show was a stunt woman. SIMON: And as I understand it, she had some technical assistance, didn't she? Like Peter Pan flying. Mr. KENNEDY: Well, a little bit. This was actually a pretty low-tech stunt. She was strapped into a harness, and there were two ropes attached to that harness that went up above the wall where two other stuntmen were standing. And when she jumped, they basically just kind of tugged on the ropes and gave her a little bit of an extra boost. And she was athletic enough to pull it off and sell it as a real catch." link to full interview... www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=91993793
