So happy I got back into watching smash. Love this community and loved watching during 2019. Just started watching again. You guys are awesome man. Also Light taking care of his own standing up for Marss whether he has the context or not that’s what we like to see✊🏻✊🏻

10:29 Light is so correct, and their set at Crown the 3rd 8 months ago is a testament to that. Leo was hitting some of his lowest lows, with Spargo hitting his highest highs. Leo hasn't gone Joker in MONTHS and has all but given up on the character. He's down 0-2 against Spargo with Byleth. Spargo has beaten Leo 4 of their previous 5 encounters, with the one time he lost having him double eliminate Leo in Grands from LOSERS. He swaps to Joker, and INSTANTLY the entire crowd pops off. On the second stock, Leo completely destroys Spargo and outreads him the entire stock, and you can see Spargo REELING in the playercam. At the end of Game 3, despite still being up 2-1, it clearly looks like Spargo is playing not to lose as opposed to playing to win. Game 5, Spargo swaps off of Cloud to Aegis but it does nothing to stop the reverse 3-0. I feel like MKLeo is the player that Spargo will always respect the most, even if Spargo becomes #1 and Leo never breaks into the top 10 again. Because even during Spargo's comeup, MKLeo did say that Spargo would become the best player soon during his dominant reign of Ultimate, and lo and behold, Spargo is now the #2 player.

Oh Zomba is very likely to make top 5 imo. Sure he won Crown 3 and didn’t make top 10 last year, but his win list at Genesis was even better than in that tournament. He literally took out four top 10 players (in a row) to win Genesis (and he beat Sonix twice, even after getting reset).

I somewhat agree with Light about the higher level of the players being interesting in itself. Sonics have learned the combo routes and that means they're relying on Spindash less which improves the entertainment value. However, I don't think seeing the skill expressed by/against charas like GW, Minmin, or Aegis makes for more entertaining matches because their gameplan is pretty linear and doesn't change that much. Kazuya's combo game was solved the week he came out, and as a result he only gets worse as time goes on (still strong though).
