Leo was playing solo Joker the entire losers run (other than Justice who he demolished with ROB), and didn't have a SINGLE person take him to game 5 (even Tarik) with the Joker. He makes it to Gackt and goes.... Byleth?? Who he hasn't played ALL BRACKET, not even in DOUBLES?? He immediately goes down 2-0, swaps to Joker, and instantly the match shifts in Leo's favor, but he loses 2-1. Which if he went Joker from the beginning, he would've been up 1-0, Gackt would tie it up 1-1, and Leo would've had a much bigger chance of closing it out 3-1 as this is exactly how his previous matches went. I'm shocked he would pull out the freezer cold Byleth instead of the red hot Joker.

It's not Japan bias, it's a coming away from American bias. The only difference is that Americans are never conscious of when they themselves are benefiting from bias, but they're quick to call out other countries on it for the smallest things. Light talks more about Japan than the people he says are biased do.

I really found his analysis of Aegis enlightening. His point of everyone knowing their win condition against Cloud/Aegis/Fox but Aegis players generally not demonstrating awareness resonates with me. I picked up Cloud for a bit to feel for myself how obnoxious he is (and boy, if Fox makes you feel like a protagonist, Cloud makes you feel like you're the protagonist of your opponent's story) and the awareness that I should "be very aware of getting edgeguarded" comes and goes. Yet if I go against any of those characters, my gameplan is immediately 1) Get them off the stage, 2) Don't let them come back! It's really hard to forget this when they suffocate you on stage. And on an aside, I'm interested in seeing Light's runback with Tweek. During the Genesis X set, Tweek really did his homework as the usual ledgetrapping Light has wasn't as consistent thanks to Tweek utilizing a wall jump to Side B back on ledge (the monkey flip also delivered massive dividends against Tea with that Pacman set). The ball's now in Light's court to shed a light on his tricks and thwart them.

I'm still shocked that Leo refuses to pick up Corrin after... 1. Winning a MAJOR with her over SPARG0 AND GLUTO 2. The rise of Corrin in general 3. Corrin's incredible match-up chart 4. Her ease of use on top of it all. She would be a great secondary with Joker, since Joker requires a ton of effort while Corrin can be played with basic fundies and win big games.

First shotout to Light, he looks like that very instinctive player that does things outta intuition, but can't really break down his decision making. However, this is far from the truth, his insights are very reflexive, he is aware of a lot of things, he is surprisingly a very cerebral player, the way he explained why Aegis main suck so bad was so eloquently put, I never seem someone else speak like that. Also MKLeo fans blaming Bo3 format, blaming character picks, blaming his gf, blaming his lack of drive... Mindbroken fandom, reality is: Joker should not lose to Ken and Ness at all, his Joker is mediocre in this late game meta, he needs to accept ninja characters aren't his strong suit and focus on sword characters, at this point even Byleth could work again if he seriously focused on solo maining them, but Corrin is better, simple as.

I knew Zomba was goated when he called out Leo for the Hungrybox money matches and cooked him there. WHEW

Depends how volatile your character is. I think players like Spargo, Kola, and Riddles are better off with a secondary because of how stupid some of their main's matchups can be. I think it's especially helpful if the secondary you choose has similar weaknesses to your main. For instance, Roy, Cloud, and Aegis all have the weakness of a poor recovery, however they all excel at different things. Roy is good at rushing down the opponent and killing them early. Cloud is good at forcing the opponent to approach him because he can charge limit. And Aegis is good at comboing opponents and dominating neutral. Obviously it's overall better to solo main if you can do it. My main point though is that in some cases you're better off being realistic with yourself and picking up a secondary for matchups that you probably won't win consistently.

18:00 or whatever. Marss is a true example of this. He’s said this kind of thing too. He’s had a lot of “bad matchups” before and he’s realized he just should try and get better at the match up. He might have even been talking about Leo too. He thinks it’s better to try and get better with the character matchup than it is to try and retool and counter someone else. He tried it during Leo’s dominance (like at ceo 2019 with captain falcon) and then sucked it up at genesis 7 and won with only ZSS.

That's why whenever people bitch about Fox I get on them. Though he is Top 5 in speed and has good frame data, he has mad downsides/weaknesses that people don't think really about and he is very dependent on playing neutral and player skill. Light even "shines Light" on this issue at 55:52 and i could further build on this point at Fox being too heavily player dependent to be considered Broken or Top 10 as a character. But in short, you'd literally have to play like an Advanced Level 20 CPU AT ALL TIMES to maximize Fox's potential; especially against players as good as you. Plus, ground movement and tech in this game are almost completely non-existent; making Fox even harder to play in Ultimate than the previous games. Most people who complain about Fox don't even play him on a consistent basis, definitely don't play against people who know the MU consistently and haven't even tried playing the game on a faster speed consistently to think faster for fighting fast thinking players/characters. All that said, people don't give enough credit to Light as a player for pushing his limits. I remember seeing him in the player cam whenever he loses a stock/match and he'd be visibly annoyed. He still dedicated himself to a character who definitely isn't some easy "pick up-n-play" character and thought harder to maximize Fox's potential and more importantly, his own potential. Light is so good that people forget that Fox has one of the highest learning curves in Melee and 4 and that doesn't change in Ultimate. Even at 1:03:00, he shows that Fox players will run into more stress than other players because of how hard Fox is to perfect. I know I'm going off on a semi character rant but it's very important because People really have to understand when to separate the character from the player. But yeah, properly give people their credit

@doolosss Fox doesn't even have a basic Throw Combo like idk, 99% of the cast, and he is broken to you? Smh. He is fast, Top 6 in run speed in fact and that is good. But being fast doesn't equate to neutral being free. He has no actual way to open up opponents and has to rely on dancing around them until THEY fumble all the time. This results in the Fox player having to do more calculation in neutral than most other players. He is actually a character that requires a brain 100% of the time and using your 100% of your brain 100% of the time is VERY hard. You definitely need a lot of warm up time as well as rest time. Thats why Light wishes he can do Top 48 and Top 8 in the same day. He beats Maister cleanly on Saturday but taps out completely and loses to Spargo in an absolutely miserable fashion on Sunday. You can visibly see the difference in his mentality/playstyle on both days. At least with someone like Captain Falcon you could Side B to maybe armor through some moves and force a combo to start. Sonic can literally Side B a whole match for openings and you can't stop it unless you have a Command Grab, a move that quicklyccovers a large space around your character(think Ridley's Nair) or time a powerful move. Otherwise, he is going to keep approaching with the same one move and make you respect his Corny Playstyle because like a lot of his modern games, Sonic's kit will do the work for you to a large degree. Laser isn't a real projectile and can only be used to annoy the opponent. You can simply not give a fuck about the 3 to 5% damage he might give, approach and the Fox player will be scared af cause Fox puts away his glock slow enough to get caught lacking. A notable difference can be seen with a character like Sheik who also has a weak projectile to annoy an opponent by causing small amounts of damage while camping/running away. But Sheik can also potentially net kills off of needle using Bouncing Fish right afterwards. And obviously the needles have some knock back unlike laser. Fox is stubby on top of being light and He doesn't have a sword nor projectiles; so newsflash, you can challenge his moves. You can watch a lot of vods and see that people just aren't used to playing fast and just let him jump in and land on them for free when they definitely can punish him, go for a trade at least or at least throw out a hit box while spacing to counter his movement. It's not like you're facing Samus who can Mini Charge shot you into Dash Attack for an easy kill after only going for guaranteed hits or Call-Outs attained through Zoning Set ups for 90% of the match. It's not like you're fighting Roy/Chrom who can mash more often and safely while applying pressure; forcing you act because Jab > Jab > Forward Smash breaks shields and you'll be confused on if you should risk rolling, Side Dodging or jumping due to Chroys speed and frame data. Then you have a character like Mythra who is a conditioning Queen and is basically Marth with slightly better frame data and Fox's Speed. Fox has no armor on any of his moves. The only thing you might have to watch out for is intangibility on his legs during Up and Down Smash. But it's not like they're moves that can be thrown out any time for no reason. Additionally, you get characters like Palu who can abuse Bair and Dash Attack intangibility. I believe I was told offline at a local that even Wii Fit has intangibility on her Fair and she uses that move a decent amount. Sure, Fox can hit hard at times but that isn't really enough all the time cause who doesn't know that a Fox player wants to hit us SOOOO BAAAAD. He has no kill throw until 175% where he can Forward Throw for a kill but even then I might live if I know how to DI. He has no command grab either. At least with Ganon Side B, I can get a Down Tilt kill if the opponent misses a tech or a follow up kill if the opponent either rolls in, get up attacks or does normal get up. Against Ganon, you have to actually worry on your last stock cause his Up B is very powerful and it's much worse when fighting Falcon's original version of the move cause he is fast enough for players to utilize for catching you mid-air AND in Shield on a pretty consistent basis. Diddy having a Command grab is scary because its fast and you don't know if he'll use the grab to kill you when you're cornered or just switch to the Kick Variation of the move. Plus, it can give him a footstool off-stage if the player is grabbed mid-air. Ridley's Command grab can take you to the other side of the stage while dragging you across the floor for damage on top of killing. It can also be used to take you deep off-stage AND he'll still make it back from deep. Incineroar has the ability to DI mix up for a kill on top of it being strong. He can also side switch with it. Kazuya's Down B has strong armor on it and I don't think that's exclusive to his Rage Drive but can even tank DK Giant Punch at high percents and go through Inklings Roller when timed right I believe. Fox has no gimmicks. No Arsen, no Limit, no One Wing, not even a Deep Breath of fucking air to buff himself during a stock. Even Revenge makes you stronger when it's used as a counter AND you can potentially combo off of it at certain times. He has no Witch time or Foresight. No ability to swap to a powerful character mid match. He can't build blocks to make his own platforms off stage. Steve's Side B is a much more useful burst option that can turn into a Projectile AND a Command grab simultaneously that can net him significant kills. Mind you, Fox's Side B can't even escape corner anymore cause it doesn't go through shields and it is still easy to react to when it activates. Isabelle has a fishing rod to dangle offstage to catch recovering opponents with minimal effort. Plus, you can combo from it and the Up Throw off of it is strong enough to kill. Gyro and Banana are both stage hazards that lead into ridiculous kills. Fox's ledge trapping is more of an Illusion than his Side Special. Again, he is fast but for an obvious reason, players equate being fast to winning for free; which is very flawed and shows that they're mid level players who haven't elevated their thought process to a faster speed. Just like with the rest of Fox's neutral, he has to do heavier calculation than anyone else. People say he is good at ledge games like he doesn't have to guess or react accurately all the time. He isn't like Samus, King K Rool nor Peach. It's just mid ledge trapping on a fast character that relies fully on player skill. I probably can keep going about Fox because I practiced the character for a long time at one point in my Smash life and I also fought Fox often. To sum this up though, if you think Fox is broken, you objectively fear characters like Captain Falcon on a Skill Based/Technical/Mechanical level and you'll easily be way more drained against characters like that Yellow Rat Pikachu. Players of the same skill level as you will easily surpass you if you don't sharpen your core fundamental skills as a player in general. Thats literally what you get beat by when you lose to Fox. It's never a drastically confusing loss you have to think about when you lose to him because Fox as a character is so bare bones and reflective of player skill. Not saying he isn't good but people heavily overrate him in Ultimate.

@@YamashitaKoikeDS holy shit you wrote a whole essay 1. Fox’s buttons are fast and safe enough on shield and in general to auto-condition the opponent, so not Fox does NOT require 100% LOL. His fast fall speed and safe aerials make it so where him simply jumping is a 50/50. He can tomohawk grab or just do an aerial and you have to guess correctly. Also every player needs to warm up, it’s not something special to Fox. 2. Laser should be being used as if it’s a “real” projectile because it isn’t. It’s made to force approaches and get opponents to specific percent windows for landing nair kill setups. 3. All those characters having different options that you mentioned does not make Fox bad lol. If he had any of those he would easily be top top tier. Yes, characters can have gimmicks and still be bad and characters don't need gimmicks to be good. 4. I obviously was joking when I said he was broken. I still believe he’s top 10, but I know he isn’t Steve level. I play Peach and Luigi and can beat very good players in my region with a lot of characters. You don’t have to worry about my fundies. If you want I can explain more.

@@doolosss 1. Running in, jumping and pressing buttons isn't free even if he is fast. His fall speed and aerials are only a 50/50 if you can't visually keep up with him or if you don't have decent options to deal with him approaching. Plus, he is stubby and light with no sword; him actually landing a hit on you is much more risky work for him cause a good player will also know frame data, spacing, etc. Him jumping is very committal because he is fast; so the player must think fast. So I can easily walk or Slowly Run towards him and Parry or just throw out a spaced tilt when I see him short hop in. Seeing people not punishing him for being too high up is disappointing cause you can easily not give a fuck and throw out a hitbox while going to center for stage control. Now he is in a bad spot even if he doesn't get hit. None of his Drag Down combos, ladder combos or tech-chase scenarios just happen out of thin air and they all require the Fox player to calculate Space, Timing, DI and pick the right options consistently. And as I established already, he doesn't have a lot of attributes other characters possess to make neutral easier. So yeah, playing Fox requires 100% of brain usage 100% of the time. 1b. Of course every player needs to warm up but Fox's kit is very dry and depends on heavy calculation since he is a very honest character with no gimmicks. You can pick up and play Pikachu, Joker or Mario and get in the zone much faster than you can with Fox. Many characters are much less stressful than Fox. I think a Yoshi player names Miles or something almost eviscerated Light at the LMBM Pre Local and while Yoshi players have to think to a degree, they really don't think toooop hard. And Light was getting mopped initially despite winning later. 2. Too bad that Fox still has to work for these set ups regardless and he has to risk losing stage control from the fact that he is running away to pull out the Laser safely and has to stop before I catch him. You act as if he has Melee Level lasers. Fox and Falco mains wish developers would implement that back into the game and are jealous of Jokers Gun Dash. And you can contest Nair; especially when he full hops. 3. It's dependent on the character. And it's not only about gimmicks as I demonstrated but having good tools/kit overall is important. As a good character, a player won't have to have to Maximize their potential or effort for the character to be good because good characters can reward playing smart and dumb with room for error. Fox doesn't have that luxury at all. Literally, Give him Meta Knights run speed as a nerf and he'll have a dramatic fall off in tier placements and player base(which is already not big) because of all his weaknesses put together on top of how inaccessible he is as a character even when he has Top 6 run speed in the game. You don't want to give him Sheik/low damage output because he already has to dance around the opponent for an opening all the time; making him do less damage so he has to put in more effort will be depressing for Fox mains. Again, he lacks a basic Throw Combo while 99% of characters don't(maybe like 95% cause a few sword characters like Cloud don't really have throw combos). That's crazy. His Forward Throw can potentially be survived at 175%. That's crazy. He can be killed at 60% by a lot of the cast if he messes up once. It makes people rage and even Light rages as a top player and you see it in the cam all of the time during his sets. And then when he wins he gets really happy and pops off cause he works hard for a many well deserved wins during neutral interactions. 4. Top 10 is still a stretch. You have Steve, Mythra, Sonic, Joker, Palu, ZSS and Cloud who are Top 7. Even if you don't agree with that, you still have to worry about characters who share similar things to Fox but better like Sheik, Greninja, Pikachu and maybe Roy and Captain Falcon. Then you have characters like Diddy Kong, R.O.B, Mr.G&W, regular Samus, Pac-Man and potentially even ones like Meta Knight or regular Pit who have crazy things about them, can hold up a candle against Fox and are a big problem for the cast as a whole when reaching full optimization. 4b. Even if you are joking, you playing Peach and Luigi is exactly why you think Fox is broken. Both of which are slow and require good fundamentals and good execution to play well consistently. Players usually lose against your characters if they play like Slow, scared and unsure/unknowledgable cowards. That's more true for Luigi than it is for Peach. Peach is still much more demanding than Luigi because Float combos are almost not worth doing since the Buffer and Input Delay are ass in Ultimate. Plus, you need to distance yourself to even pull out Turnips and I realistically could just catch them to use them against you. I think her best or most of her most used moves also require her to be in the air; which makes it easier to challenge her and makes players have to think too much about when to actually float. A Wario player I know also tried to say "Fox is broken" but Wario is more stubby than Fox and relies on playing around the opponent as well but is slower overall. He literally only has one combo or several variations of the same one combo. He isn't likely to land Smash attacks and barely lands Wafts, Dash Attacks or F-Tilts against player who know the MU. There are literally less than a handful of reps that even do well Peach(Samsora when he played, Ling Ling and MuteAce), Luigi(Elegant when he played consistently, Guy-Guy now) or Wario(still only has Glutonny). Nairo complains about fighting Fox but he plays tall characters with semi-awkward kits/traits and questionable frame data despite still being good. Nairo gets hit by a lot of things due to size and plays weird in certain areas of neutral while Fox plays the same straight forward game plan consistently. He says he only plays Fox for a minimal amount of time and can destroy everyone with him but it's common knowledge that not a lot of people have Fox experience. Most Fox players like Lui$ as one example(if I remember correctly off the top my head) also play a secondary; so they don't even fully believe in the character. Light even thought Wolf was better at one point and was considering a secondary too but didn't know who to really pick. Like I said, Fox is reflective of skill and Nairo was literally one of the best players. He fights Light all the time as well(Best Fox and one of the only few Fox mains in Utimate) and now Light has surpassed him neutral to where he doesn't even need to remember everything about a MU to win because neutral at its core is about timing, spacing, knowing DI, knowing your moves and what buttons to press. But thats stillbplayer dependent, not character dependent because all Fox has is speed and a reflector. Mind you, Nairo once reverse 3-0'd Light as Ganondorf when his ZSS didn't work. So it's clear that even at Top Level, Fox is heavily dependent on player skill and has glaring weaknesses that can't be ignored. During one of his streams, the recent one where he had to get all characters back, we were briefly debating about Fox and he also said he wasn't fully serious about saying Fox was broken but didn't adress a lot of the weaknesses I pointed out about the character. And I also wrote multiple comments on every video where he complains about Fox but the most notable one is one called "Light is too fast" or something like that and I literally argue against mad people with literal detailed essays debunking all of their takes. Nairo obviously doesn't responds to these either. Nothing against him or anyone personally but I point all this out to say I know how a lot of you think when it comes to Fox. In conclusion, just get used to thinking faster and being that you play Luigi and Peach, you should switch your character to a faster character against Fox.

No wonder Light doesn't remember MU's whenever he takes a break; he only watches his wins. Also I played at 1.5x(fast smash) in Ultimate and PM for years. I can agree that it helps you think faster. You still have to remember frame data as well as dismantle opponent playstyles and remember that Zomba(as well as other people) play dumb characters in a game that is a mechanical mess

I was looking up genesis x after the results and one surprising fact showed up. Zomba is the lowest seed to ever win a smash genesis at 12th which is crazy because usually it would be the top 4 seeds or a little bit lower that would win a genesis. After the tournament I said that the way zomba was playing he would give acola a hard time if his results stay consistent. If zomba could beat syrups Steve from losers then acola will need more than just being Steve to win. I know this because zomba beat acola at the Ludwig invitational and in let’s make big moves Miami Zomba forced Acola into a game 5 situation where acola won so they are much closer than people think. I think zomba deserves the horseman slayer title as well as light because they both have wins on one or more of the four horseman.

Team kills cause there was like 30 top JP players and half of them got upset, that’s why they clashed a lot, literally inevitable.

I’ve never particularly liked Zomba because i can’t fw ROB and sometimes his attitude is kinda obnoxious from afar, but I love what he brought to Genesis as a cocky villain type of energy. Makes games so much more exciting and the scene more interesting with rivalry and narrative. Normally I’d never care about a ROB v G&W set but now I’m hyped to see him face miya or a cola, rematch sparg0, rematch sonix. Not even out of wanting him to win or lose, it’s just more interesting now. Keep Talking your shit kid!

Kinda crazy how consistent light is I don't think there is another active player from the US that doesn't have a placement lower than 25th since the very beginning of the game. Also I know fox wins but I feel like Tweek makes it sound soooo much worse than it is cuz he just really hates fox as a character.
