Mk6 & Mk7 GTI Stage 1+ COBB Accessport

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today, we install Cobb's V3 Accessport on BOTH the Mk6 & Mk7 GTI. Both cars ended up flashing Stage 1+ because of the current supporting mods both vehicles have. The install was very straightforward, literally plug and play. Listed below are the thoughts on the Mk6 & Mk7. Thanks for watching the video and leave a comment with any questions you have!
Mk6 - Overall, definitely notice a difference. However, torque on the low-end is pretty weak. This is most likely due to the fact that the stock clutch on the manual version cannot hold as much torque as the DSG variant. Since recording this video, the peak boost has been 18 PSI compared to roughly 10-12 PSI stock. Looking forward to getting a protune from Stratified for Stage 2 down the road.
Mk7 - A very, very noticeable difference. The only concerning thing is the flutter coming from the turbo. Hasn't caused any complications so far, but we will be keeping an eye on it. The max boost that has been hit since this video has been 28.2 PSI. Compared to 18 PSI stock. Looking to do some more supporting mods before going Stage 2, but a definite recommendation.

    Tcorr 24 So that’s the benefit of buying the accessport. It comes preloaded with COBB’s off the shelf tunes that you can just flash your car with. (Depending in the supporting mods you have). But, there are many other companies that provide Pro Tunes for the accessport where they will make a custom tune for your car, and send you file to put on the accessport to which you can then flash to your car.

    Welcome to the community! Fortunately you don't really need any supporting mods for a stage 1 tune, an intake is recommended but not necessary. The accessport can be found on COBB's website, linked in the description.

    I know this is an old video but I’m hoping someone can help me. I just bought a 2010 GTI that dude said was pro tuned with this method. Runs and sounds great! I have the accessport but I need to buy a replacement cord for it. The Cobb SF cool air intake, and a Cobb dual exhaust are also installed. The cool air intake hose had a leak and dude just taped it up. Before researching I ordered a complete brand new K&N cool air intake. After researching I cannot confirm if the K&N will work with my tune the same as the Cobb intake. I have not installed the K&N and it’s still in the box. Should I return it and order the Cobb intake instead for my tune? Another question; is it more than likely that the down pipe is also aftermarket to meet the stage 1+ Cobb requirements? Totally new to this and appreciate any and all help/direction.

  • @DubChasers

    @DubChasers

    Ай бұрын

    Congrats on the new (to you) MK6! To answer the first part, intakes have a minimal effect on engine tunes. All aftermarket intakes are within a few % of each other in terms of performance gains. Basically, this means you could most likely be safe with either the K&N intake or the Cobb intake. For the second part, unsure if your car has an aftermarket downpipe or not. Chances are, if the previous owner had the car pro tuned, then there is an aftermarket downpipe installed. We would advise against the factory Cobb Stage 1+ tune and instead stick with the pro tune already on the car. The factory of-the-shelf (OTS) tunes provided by Cobb are designed to be as universal as possible, meaning they don’t often run the best on every car they’re installed on

  • @DubChasers

    @DubChasers

    5 жыл бұрын

    Haha, not a noob question. In a broad sense, yes. It depends what kind of modifications you're doing to your exhaust, what type car it is, and if the shop will tune the car. Stage 1 is just a general milestone for modding a car that gives people an idea what kind of power you might be making and what supporting mods you might have.

    We always try to reply to the comments! And yes, you can absolutely run the APR intake with COBB's OTS tune. There are two files, one for intakes that use the stock MAF housing and one that use a custom MAF housing. Based on APR's CAI, you would use the file for the stock MAF housing.
