    I have a 1.0 ecoboost in a fiesta, 9 years and 80k miles and it’s never had any issues. In fact the whole car has never gone wrong save for a track rod end and a sheared spring. I have heard the ecoboom stories from several sources but yet to experience them.

    It’s seems to be hit or miss, i’ve known some with 0 issues and some with non stop. Unfortunate because it’s such a good engine. 😅

    I have the 1.0 Ecoboost had it for 2 years replaced coolant hoses and service regularly myself so far no issues on the other hand my friend has a 1.0 ZS and no end of problems with it. I’m looking to swap the engine out for the 1.6 petrol in the future though cause I love the mk3 focus just want that little extra power and reliability

  • @xiolage

    If you’re in any of the owners club just search for boot leak and it’ll pop up with more info. Basically there’s some vents in the rear body under the rear bumper than need silicone around the seals to make them water tight. 😁

    The beauty with the Focus is the engine variety. I imagine with some new engine mounts and possibly an ECU change you should be able to do it relatively easily. 😁

    I have preface lift Mk3 2012 1.6 TDCI 115hp and so far the engine is bulletproof with 130.000km and like you said, preventive and regular maintenance is key. 1st gear is like a parking gear and it took some time to get to used to it, as previously I had a 1.8 TDCI Mk1 Focus and 1st gear was like a launch mode :D P.S. Ford diesel engines build in Germany seem to be much more reliable than those produced in U.S and other. Great channel, keep up the great work!

    @@xiolage I don’t know if that’s sarcastic or not 😂 but I genuinely really like the 1.6 TDCI/HDI engine . Even if they do give injector trouble injectors can be got for dirt cheap and usually if the timing belt does snap you can get away with cams and rockers instead of a whole engine

    What’s the feel of the diesel like? In America we only get the petrol 1.0L EcoBoost and two 2.0L Duratec, one with flex fuel. I have the non flex fuel Duratec, it makes 159 hp and 142 lb/ft of torque. It’s a noisy little engine that makes all sorts of sounds, and is somewhat loud at highway speed. Although it’s fuel efficient by American standards, I don’t think 27 city and 37 highway is impressive for Europe. It’s also slow until you get above 3500 RPMs, and its lack of torque is very obvious. Although it can make a nice noise. 0-60 with this engine and the 6-speed dual clutch is 8 seconds, I’m curious if that diesel is faster. 🤔

  • @xiolage

    @xiolage

    Жыл бұрын

    There’s all sorts of diesel variants in the UK all with very similar characteristics the only thing that changes is displacement and power. Naturally most diesels run out of torque around 3500-4000RPM hence the long gear ratios. All the diesel engines are fairly quiet and will fetch pretty good mpg depending on the displacement. My 1.6TDCi has been remapped to 145 BHP giving it enough poke to get around however the 2.0TDCi starts at 155 and remap around 180. The ST diesel starts at 200BHP and remaps to 220. Is definitely say petrol is the way to go for pure performance but with the price of fuel diesel is a good alternative for efficiency. 😊

    The only thing to look out for on these is water in the boot can be a serious problem and causes tons of mould (ask me how I know), the air con is prone to going wrong as the condensor gets hit by rocks on the road due to it being exposed with the design of the grill and if you go for the automatic version of these cars then they can be a pain in the butt as if the gearboxes aren't serviced every 30K miles then they can go wrong. Again, ask me how I know.... Other than that, I love the look of my one and love the car but yeah the build quality isn't the greatest in my opinion and I appear to have had every common issue 😂 oh and don't forget the rubber weather strips hanging out the doors, they are a very common problem too and also if you go for the 1.0 ecoboost then the engines go boom if aren't regularly serviced as the timing belt is lubricated through the engine oil and regular maintenance is key to making sure they don't go wrong on you so just make sure you get one with service history and regular oil changes. Other than those things and the lack of build quality, I love the look of the car and ride quality is good too. Mine also suffers from interior mould on the seats in the winter which sucks but these cars do require quite a bit of maintenance unfortunately. I do love mine though and im a part of all the Ford focus groups too

    I’m experiencing the problem with water in the wheel well at the minute. I’m going to take the bumper and rear lights out and seal the 4 vents. This issue is caused by water coming off the wheels when driving on wet roads. Be sure to check the rear passenger foot well for damp. If that is the case it’s not a bad seal it’s the vents. Tec 7 silicone will do the job sealing it up properly. Be gentle when removing the interior plastic piece in the boot as there are fragile plastic clips holding it in place.
