I own a 2012 Focus SEL hatchback here in 'Murica. It's too bad Ford made the fatal decision to equip most of the North American models with the dry DCT Powershit electronically shifted automatic transmission. I am the second owner and just had the TCM replaced under factory warranty, hopefully it holds for a good while. Except for the transmission problem, mine has been a very good car, comfortable, quiet, great gas mileage, and good power for a sub compact. I've taken it on a couple of 1600 mile highway trips, car performed flawlessly.

Hello sir, Any tips or advise. Should I go for the short throw shifter? I once drove an ST model with the short throw mods and was really impressed. So is it worth getting this mod in my 2013 1.6ltr tdci focus? Plz kindly advise.

@@FF04ORD either you live in a flat part of uk or something is wrong with mine and yet its only covered 61k alao when you say they all share same engine i think you will find that only zetec s and tit x have 163bhp the lower spec trims like zetec studio and another spec i cant remember have 140bhp

The 1.6/1.5 are different engines. If you only do 3k a year your engine will be clogging up with carbon etc as only doing start stop journeys. Diesel need roughly ideally no less than single 25/30 mile drives. Especially the 2.0 the 1.5 would be better for small trips and little useable tbh

@@FF04ORD actually mate the 1.6 and 1.5 would suffer the same on short journeys and its the deisels fitted with the dreadful dpf that suffer and thats due to the fact the conmen who thought up the dreadful idea of fitting a wallet draining device that captures soit only to release it elswhere fitted these things diesels prior to common rail and dmf were so long lasting and lenth of journey only effected mpg due obviously to the time it takes to get a big deisel warm i wouldnt get the 1.6 or 1.5 my last one was a mk2 1.6 estate and it was underpowered also the dv6 engine is shite. Your claim of over 50mpg doest stackup fords own mpg claims are as follows. Urban 46mpg extra urban 68.9 combined 57.7 mpg all of which will not be achievable in real life

A fair and honest review on a 10 year old Focus. My main issue with the Focus is with the windscreen sloping at such an angle would be the horrendous reflection of the dashboard making driving sometimes a bit of a mare. I've had the usual issues in my year of ownership (2014 2.0 Zetec S) such as the rear vents leaking which was sorted quite easily even though it can appear quite daunting, a loose fixing on the hatch spoiler which caused a slight leak, again fixed very easily, I've got it booked in for a new waterpump as the original has got failed bearings I'm not a fan of the cheapo carpets Ford fit in their cars but that's only a minor gripe really, overall I'm very happy with the car and without spending a chunk more money wouldn't know what to replace it with, a petrol ST would be nice but with that would be double the fuel bills.I did consider a Supechips remap but that maybe something for the future. Keep up the good work on the channel 👍

Sounds like you had a few issues. Although better the ones you can sort rather than mechanical/electrical ones which cost a fortune to sort. Glad you enjoyed the video. Realized I've missed a few bits out I should have mentioned like the hatch rusting near the number plate and the other engines like the ecoboost and vvti .. oh well :) I've looked at a superchips/bluefin remap. around 300 for only a small increase 185 (st level) but guess its a safe map for the engine. 200 would be nice but guess it may reduce the life of the engine components too much.

Hi I’ve done a video for water leaks so this may help kzread.info/dash/bejne/gYqatM9_j5bKqMo.htmlsi=ZvBbhdd_YtLvjnpN

@cornwellmusic3795 The vents behind the rear bumper have a tendency to leak and let water into the boot area which eventually if left unchecked will fill the spare wheel well and then work its way forward.
