    It was definitely fun. I also would recommend a stronger servo. The steering is absolutely terrible with those wheels. Also, get some wheel spacers that are longer than 15mm. The pins in the diffs are not your typical 10mm length, so be sure to order the correct ones 👍👍 After that it should be great lol

    Thanks! I think the hbx would still fair better. Since the hbx has always been run in concrete and able to get faster speeds before hitting the ramp and it tops out at 21 mph on the stock tires, it’s probably 22-23 on the bigger ones. The mjx topped out around 26-27, but actually felt slower on the bigger wheels because the motor is wired more for speed, than power and just couldn’t get it there as easily. The hbx plastics feel more flexible/less brittle to me.

    3:36 - the same happened to my son's MJX 16208, I used a small drill and drilled the broken off screw from the bottom and the drill "grabbing" the broken screw from the bottom screwed it out far enough on top so that I was able to grab it with long nose pliers and screw out the broken bit.

    Wow, the exact same thing happened to mine when I tried to put the bigger tires on. Broke the same pin and broke a tooth off the drive shaft gear. Needless to say went back to the smaller tires. I also (during a jump and hard landing) had the back shock tower break along with one of the rear shocks. Parts are available though so should be getting them today and will finish putting it back together tonight. Oh well, that's why you call it a hobby. Working on them is all part of it!!

    Good part is that pin is easily upgraded, it looked like pot metal too. I heard they upgraded the diffs with a new metal, wonder if it would survive? I might try just the spacers first and see if I cant figure out a way to stiffen up the servo saver. Perhaps a 3d printed piece of TPU to take uo some of the give? This could be why it handles poorly too. I also noticed the servo gears are plastic, seems like a good digital servo might help further.

On Amazon Prime ( regular Amazon may be different ) = OLRC 3pcs T-plug dean's style Female to JST wireless connector adapter ( C55-3 ). Right now on Amazon Prime they are 23%off which makes them only $9.99. Sometimes prices are different on regular Amazon than Prime- no idea why. • @DerbyCityRC

    Being to reverse at any time I don’t know. Most controllers and brushless cars are designed to hit brakes, and then tap again for reverse. That is standard. For more control at crawling speeds, you would probably want to go to a sensored brushless motor and esc set up or even a brushed motor.

    I bought the brushed Hosim branded versions of this truck with the gps and oil shocks on sale. I already have a brushless system I plan to put in it. My problem is the shocks. I opened the truck and saw the front and rear covered in shock oil. When I opened up the shocks I noticed the bladders were chewed up around the edges on all four of them so there is no seal holding the oil in. I contacted the manufacturer but never got a response. I got a second truck from Amazon and it has the exact same problem. I know this is a cheap RC and half expected the shock to leak a little over time but one run after refilling them and there was oil everywhere. Depends on what you're after. Out of the box and with stock everything, the MJX 16208 is still better imo, as it's quicker both in 2S and obviously 3S, has honeycomb chassis, chunkier CVD's, fan on ESC, more grippy tyres, body mount system without clips, 3S support as standard, plus is just as if not more durable out the box. The HBX Pro takes to bigger tyres better likely as its motor is less powerful, along with the gearing to match. Think of the MJX as a tuned HBX, obviously the more weight/pressure you put on an already tuned vehicle, the more critical strain you put on the parts vs the non tuned vehicle.

I'm also looking for a car for my son so chose the hbx purely on what I've seen time and time again, the hbx is just stronger.

  • @nib95

    @nib95

    Жыл бұрын

    @@thedeeptone1986 You're talking about in extreme bash tests, and the HBX does not have a fan for that to break in the first place. You have to compensate for the fact that reviews are nearly always running the MJX in 2S AND 3S, and 3S is considerably faster than 2S (40mph vs 26mph on the MJX, vs 24mph on the HBX). Obviously if you're running something 70% faster, it's going to be more likely to take damage. The fact that it's still comparably durable despite being so much quicker, is a testament to its durability. That's why the MJX has the extra little features such as the thicker dog bones/CVD, honeycomb chassis, clipless body, fan on the motor etc, all to compensate for that added potential power, and with it, more acrobatics, flips, much higher airtime/height on jumps etc. For a young child, I think the HBX is a superb, bullet proof choice. However I would say that in 2S, the MJX and HBX will be comparably durable (the MJX fractionally quicker), the MJX perhaps a tad more convenient due to the clipless body attachment design. But with the MJX you do have default support for 3S should your son ever desire more speed/power, something that can be unreliable with the HBX (diffs often go out with 3S on HBX). Overall, you can't go wrong with either choice, but the MJX does offer more bang for buck imo.
