You can really see the appreciation from the young talent when the veteran let the younger talent win. Let's face facts. Nobody would ever believe it if he won this match fair because he is MJF. It was a great match and definitely a big win for MJF Career. Punk gain nothing with a win or a loss because he is there to help build the future of AEW just like the rest of the veterans. Punk and MJF were probably in the b ack going "I'm not crying.. your crying" because of how good the match was and how big of a win that was for him.

If MJF had just won fair & square in the middle of the ring, the feud is effectively over and Punk WOULD be considered weaker as a result. And then what? You're at square one with both guys & have effectively just thrown away everything you've built in these past months. Long term booking is how you build rivalries that grab the fans interest and emotions, and that will in turn build your company. Here today, gone next week, re-write the whole show twice the day of the event & shoving a "superstar" down the throats of the fans whether they like it or not, all while LITERALLY banning the phrase 'pro-wrestling' from the mouths of your commentary team, that's how that other company is run & why they are crumbling into dust right before their investors eyes.

You can’t grow if you don’t lose. Remember Kurt Angle’s initial WWF run? Undefeated, became the Eurocontinental Champion, King of the Ring, and he got boring. Then after he lost it all, he built himself up and won the WWF Championship. This is the same for CM Punk and Adam Cole “Bay Bay”. Now they will have to climb back up and it’s just going to be a better story for them.
