Mixing the "beckwith" band on a Behringer X32 Compact - Video 36

We are using a Behringer X32 Compact console to mix the band "beckwith". FOH speakers are EV ETX with Turbosound monitors.
We assess the console, setup 15 inputs, conduct a line check, sound check, and show a few clips of the band.

    Thanks for your comment. EV has some good lines of speakers. From my involvement with the speakers on this gig, they did very well. Though, I do not know what (or if) any DSP was set on the cabinets. There are a few bands that I have mixed for that all use EV powered cabinets (not sure of the lines), they all have done well.

    @@stageleftaudio I use all EV Cabinets for front of house. For the smaller events, I use the ELX-200-12 tops with the ELX-200-18S Subs, and they perform exceptionally well. At the lower end of the product line (ZLX, ELX) the powered versions are okay, but the amplifiers within the speakers let them down... The passive versions are much much better. In combination with a good amplifier, they really are exceptional speakers for the money. I particularly like the 18S for their transient response; they reach the lows beautifully, but if you want a sub with a good amount of punch, they punch really well too.

    Great content as usual. Just want to ask , how do we know on these digital mixers what channel is "too hot " ie clipping as there seems to have no individual view or metre per channel? Sorry for asking as I have never yet used one.

    there's metres above each fader, also there's a metres screen which would give you an overview of all the ins and outs of the console. At least on tis console anyway. Most digital desks would be similar.

    Unfortunately X32 is more powerful. I'm having Presonus 16.0.2 and 1642 and like the interface of it, but no motorized faders, no matrixes etc. a lot of things these old Studiolive has no! The main reason to switch to x32 because a lot of bands uses it and have their prepared presets I think.

    Get yourself a Midas Hub 4 and run that to stage via AES50 for IEMs. This way stage control their own mixes via Midas DP48 personal mixers.

  • @stageleftaudio

    @stageleftaudio

    Жыл бұрын

    I can't recommend what to use; there are a lot of variables involved. Though without a doubt, main outs to a crossover. Even using the built-in internal crossovers on some powered speakers is a great choice. Using external crossovers (digital ones like the dbx260) offer great control over the xover frequencies.

    Sure. Though, this is a generalized setting; it really depends on which subs I'm using and how loud the event needs to be. All of our events are run in mono using a DBX Driverack 260. Most everything we do is bi-amped (Low with mid/high output) Low Out: HPF usually @35hz using a BW 24db slope Low Out: LPF usually @110hz using a LR 24db slope Mid/high: HPF usually @110hz using a LR 24db slope Mid/high: LPF : N/A

    Of the digital consoles I have mixed on and the ones we use for production, it would be the Presonus Studiolive Series 3 (32 / 32S). Next would be the A&H SQ and QU consoles. In my opinion, the Presonus consoles provide an excellent work-flow. Though, all consoles have their strengths and weaknesses. Some consoles work better for certain events than others.

    Merci pour la réponse. Je me souviens avoir vu un certain type de micro intégré, mais la salle était si bruyante, je doute que le micro aurait ajouté beaucoup ! Parfois, il est plus simple de crier dans les deux sens, mais pour les grands événements, nous utilisons nos propres systèmes d'interphone avec casque.
