This was my favorite chapter in a while tbh. Borutos use of FTG to teleport to his sword was cold af and Shikamaru showing he's on Borutos side was like letting out a sneeze I've been holding for what felt like 30 chapters. Most of Shikamarus 4d chess moves have been made within one or two chapters in the past and this felt like the longest stretches he'd played it off like a fool.

@@COFFINSFUNERALi'd guess either A, he can't use FTG for long distances, or at least needs some preparation or whatever B. he's limited to the amount of seals placed C. he can't use it too often (or not too much distance in total) D. using it too much negatively affects him in some way (e.g. exhaustion), making him vulnerable E. any combination of the above since he had noone to teach it to him (unless time travel shenanigans exist), there's no way he knows it for too long, and honestly, even if he knew it for a year or so, there might not have been the right time for a small chit chat right in the middle of the "enemy" city.

The fact the elders are still alive and breathing is so shocking like they're pass their prime and they should be laid to rest 😭

Surprised they didn't bring in a new set of Eldars for the Next Generation. They must be using Hashirama Cellular for their phone plan or have some Hashirama Cell injections.

This was now the second time since the timeskip that Kawaki didn't notice an attack from behind, and given his general attitude to shinobi training in the past, that's probably intentional. Apart from being able to detect Boruto's Karma signature his sensory abilities/general awareness seem to be pretty bad. It seems to me that he's so overly confident in his raw strength that it will eventually be what makes Boruto come out on top, with him essentially beating Kawaki by acting and fighting like a true Shinobi would. Also I do still have some hope that Mitsuki might have caught on over the few years that have passed, once the confusion settled. He spent so much time around Boruto that he simply has to notice him and Kawaki swapping roles if he thinks about it even a little. Like, don't they study combat strategies or something? Wouldn't you notice your teammate, a prodigy in Wind and Lightning release, user of Shadow Clones and the Rasengan, suddenly throwing out Fireballs and Lasers all over the place, transform his arm into a blade, and barely be able to create and sustain a single Clone?

Actually, let me double down on that. Assuming Mitsuki noticed things were weird and he pieced it together as well, the recent events line up with that. He observed Kawaki and Eida under orders of Shikamaru, who we already confirmed to have been suspicious already. Mitsuki immediately noticed Kawaki sensing Boruto and knocked him out. He notified Shikamaru on open comms under pretense of Kawaki not being suitable to pursue Boruto, essentially a coded message to give official reason for Mitsuki to be the only one to chase him. Chasing Boruto out of the Village both in an attempt to protect him from Kawaki, but also to reveal that he's on his side would be very in character for Mitsuki, I feel.

Lets all give Shikimaru a round of applause for figuring out Boruto and Naruto sound real similar.

Another thing, How do Kawaki go to his "grandpa" in the Hyuga clan and his grandpa be like Hows your Hyuga Studies going grandson and pull off he has a lifetime in history of the clan like Boruto would. Mfer asked if hes been practicing his 8 Trigrams and Kawaki looking at him like he just spoke another language. Not including Tobirama, Boruto is now using the 2 most deadly Justu of Konoha's history. The signature ability of the Yellow Flash, who was famously "run-on-sight", and now also Purple Lightning, which if you think about it too much, is kind of the spiritual successor and evolution of The White Fang's chakra blade. An iconic glowing chakra blade that slices through targets relentlessly, just like the White Fang. Boruto is embodying the techniques of both of Konoha's deadliest and most effective war-time shinobi of all time.

Sasuke was using purple lightning in the anime/novel after the war arc against the blood eyes girl so Sasuke obviously taught boruto it since he can’t use chidori w/o getting tunnel vision, it’s funny how boruto said sage mode mitsuki is minor business😂

Hopefully we get to see the full power of Mitsuki Sage Mode and whether or not it's okay for him to use now.

I doubt this will happen, but what if when Boruto and Mitsuki come to blows, Boruto beats Mitsuki, but doesn't kill him, and it's revealed it was all a test set up by Mitsuki to determine if whether Boruto was actually the person who killed Naruto, thus Mitsuki ignoring his memories, and having his actual "sun" back.

yea itll take mitsuki more time to adjust. it took shikamaru awhile once he started focusing on it, once mustuki entertains the idea, he may come on board. i give 2 to 3 more chapters before all 3 have to band together to fight the shinju

This is right here. Remember they fought in the anime after beating momoshiki but they cut it so we never saw, a foresight to this fight and when they trade blows memories will flood back into his head and it’ll all make sense in the end after he loses to Boruto, the betrayer.

Sasuke outright comends Boruto having learned and used purple lightning despite it being rough and him not knowing the basics chidori yet since its a advanced version of Chidori. So no it wasnt only the databook, it was the novels aswell that confurmed he already knew how to use the technique just not well yet.

@The_original_one well I know that and I get that they like to compare the 2 cuz of narrative but the genius of hiruzen is different said to know a jutsu by the hand signs and even learn gentil fist by watching. The only people said to copy or learn other people's techniques by simply seeing them are Sasuke, Kakashi and hiruzen.. can't count the rasengan and tailed beast bomb since it was an inspiration to create a unique technique. Doesn't make it less impressive but I'm simply saying that hiruzen was the only genius to copy moves simply by observation. Now u can say boruto is a fast learner like Minato who seemly learned everything he attempted with ease . .but I'm specifically talking about the way that boruto learn purple lighting

It also makes sense for Amado to arrive at the conclusion of his memories being altered before Shikamaru since the former has more knowledge of Otsutsuki and their abilities (along with all the cyborg stuff). Even if he doesn’t know exactly how it was done or who did it, it makes sense for him to be more aware of and open to this possibility.

But nothing is done by accident in fiction, everything is intentional, so if you show us he beats everyone in that age group it’s not weird for me to want to see him post time skip even though he’s not a leaf ninja

Great Video😊 Concerning Mitsuki I think they showed the answer in the beginning of the Anime. Mitsuki was like the 50th version or so that was tested by Orochimaru and Mitsukis elder. It was to determine wether Mitsuki would choose his own fate over the fate that they wanted to impose on him. That is why I think he will find out eventually maybe even next chapter that Boruto is his actual sun.

That was hilarious. But jokes aside I think it’s so weird that we’ve never seen orochimaru talk to Amado, the two smartest scientists in this whole series. He was making karma replicas (curse marks) which are tools for strength and also reincarnation…. In part 1 of Naruto. Long ass time ago and he also became infatuated with sage techniques, a confirmed viable way to fight against otsutsukis since nature energy can’t be absorbed by Otsutsukis Also he’s literally one of the strongest characters around still hands down, he always has been one of the strongest characters ever shown to us. I see no reason why he hasn’t been around more

Purple lightning may have been something Koji taught Boruto. In the episode before the Kara arc resumes, Kakashi and Koji meet briefly and Kakashi uses it on Koji’s shadow clone. Koji may have picked up the idea from that and passed it on to Boruto.

I love this channel, I’ve gotten to the point I’m more excited for the reviews than the chapters because it’s so well explained through these videos. Also all of the theories when tbv started at first,seemed kinda out there but watching most of them end up being right has made it really fun to watch the theory videos and even theorize on my own. Amazing content, keep it up!!

mitsuki is a double agent and going to have a convo with boruto about the village and catch up. But most likely it will be a battle and Mitsuki will have a memory surface and make him start to doubt the last three years.

What I love about Naruto is the fact, that when I was younger, I was playing a rpg in a chatroom with some other and everyone created ninjas. One of my two characters was a swordsmen of the hidden mist, who had a sword that can change it's appearance by using chakra and who was a testsubject of Orochimaru. The other one was the sun of Orochimaru and Anko Mitarashi and also a testsubject of Orochimaru... when I was playing these characters, the manga of Naruto was at the beginning of Shippuuden. And in fact, at the end we had a swordsmen with a changeable sword and a son of Orochimaru :D

Theory 1 I think Mitsuki has had Sarada in his ear these past yrs. He over heard the convo between Kawiki, Edi and Damon and wants to confirm a few things about Boruto hisself which is why he knocked him Kawiki out to go alone. Something is going to happen in this fight that gives hom conformation who Boruto really is and that his memory has been altered. Theory 2 Sarada will have the first ever mangekyou rinnegan which will allow her space time travel a crazy strong genjutsu thats can reverse Edi's and the ability to wrap the sussano around her and will give her a speed/power/defense boast Theory 3 Himma has some other rare dojustso we havent heard of which is why Damon is scared of her and why she can sense that her parents are still alive.

Apparently in one of the databooks it is said Boruto knew how to use Purple Lightning pre-time skip. So it is safe to assume it was either Kakashi showed him the basics and he perfected it, or Sasuke having seen Kakashi use it could also copy the basics and have taught Boruto.

For the question why Mitsuki knocks out Kawaki I have a 3rd theory: Boruto can only be spottet by Kawaki because of the Karma resonating and vice versa. That means, that if Kawaki moves closer to Boruto, he will know too and Mitsuki didn't want Boruto to notice so he could sneak up.

I believe nature energy will be needed to fight the shinju. If Boruto has Sage mode he could possibly use gentle fist combined with nature energy. This would allow him to disrupt the flow of chakra in the shinju and maybe even separate the clawgrimes from the peoples chakra freeing everyone.

I've always thought that Kawaki will be Naruto first kid. Wasn't sure how they'd explain it but I always felt it was coming sooner or later. Maybe this is it.

It gives me hope that Kakashi wasn't fooled by Eida's jutsu if Shikamaru's figured it out. (at least once the suggestion was there) i just so desperately hope him and sakura have a plan or something in the works. dying to see either of them.

I wonder if Shikadai also douts his memories? 🤔 He is just as smart as Shikamaru and is Boruto's best friend.

He cares about shikadai I want to see post time skip Shinki (Gaaras son) since is part one he was shown to be the strongest shinobi in that age group although from the sand village

Iirc in the data books long ago, or in some source, both mitsuki and boruto were said to know purple lightning. People mostly disregarded this because this info came out around the time the chunin exams arc came out in the anime, and botuto only used purple lightning because of the ninja tool. But it could also be assumed that Kakashi taught them this at some point off screen before the time skip, and then Sasuke taught Boruto how to channel lightning through his blade. Edit: So apparently Sasuke also knew purple lightning, so that explains that

Throwing his sword around and mixing the Uchiha sword style with FTG tells me he vastly outpaced Sasuke as a kenjutsu user.

I am glad you are taking care of those wounds. The one time I got bit breaking up a fight, only one tooth punctured my finger, but I got a really bad fever after. Infections are no joke

Im just assuming that the only real training sarada did over the timeskip was base training. If we go with the theory you provided a while back that sasuke, before saving boruto, told sarada not to over use her MS, she decided not to even really train it. Her base is probably substantially stronger than it was but her real growth and power upgrade is going to be something that we see as TBV continues.

Boruto has known purple lightning since prior to the time skip. It was in one of the novels and confirmed in the data book sasuke taught him it during part 1 but he wasn’t confident in using it in battle so we never saw it in the manga at least

When I read the leaks of shikamaru talking about his memories being altered the way that I understood it was he had an idea that something was wrong but he couldn't think of a how until said something about his memories being altered

I'm just really curious how Baruto will fight. Still haven't seen him use the flying thunder god technique offensively. If he was really like his grandpa, and with the Uchia kunai training, he would throw a bunch of kunai and defeat Mitski before he knew what happened. The way Minato did in the battle versus a 1000 ninja. Or against Bee

In Part 1 of the manga both Boruto and Mitsuki have used Purple Lightning before.

Yeah I agree that boruto needs to at least active his karma or show that Mitsuki presents a decent threat otherwise mitsukis ver overhyped sage mode will be just that. Mans is grown now when he was younger he didn’t have his sage mode completely mastered, post time skip should be an improvement

So funny how narutos whole goal was to stop the cycle of hatred and change the Shinobi world but he barely changed anything. Child soldiers compete in a child soldier tournament check. Bloodthirsty village elders that try to ruin everything still in office check. 😂

Realistic af, no matter what Naruto does, humans will be humans. The best be can do is take control of them through sheer power

I think this chapter shows the power of shinjutsu. For instance, Shikamaru refers to his memories being altered as a genjutsu. However, that’s not what’s really happening, as evidenced by Ino’s reaction. Instead of a genjustu that simply simulates a reality for its victims, shinjutsu actually makes it a reality. In a more physical sense think of it this way. With ninjutsu Sasuke needs to shoot a bunch of fire in the sky to create a storm cloud that enables him to use Kirin by pulling down its lightning. With shinjutsu, Sasuke could just create the lightning himself.

Clearly it was important to the mangaka that people weren’t left with the same impression that we were after the Naruto timeskip; that he really didn’t get much stronger, or rather he didn’t improve his arsenal. Boruto has done the opposite. They’ve had him improve the rasengan significantly, learn flying raijin, get toad summonings, learn sword combat, and now purple lightning. Personally wouldn’t have gone that far because I wouldn’t have ever had these guys fighting aliens from pretty much the beginning, but I guess it needed to happen given how strong the enemies are. But of course they have every male character flex, just for Sarada to do fuck all. They can’t help themselves at this point.

While I may be wrong, my interpretation of the “3 years” situation with Shikamaru wasn’t that he would only be Hokage for 3 years, but that Shikamaru wouldn’t ACCEPT the position until they waited 3 years for Naruto to return. Please, correct me if I’m mistaken, that changes narratively how I view that decision

16:35 Kakashi isn't the only one who knows Purple Lightning. Mitsuki used it in part 1 of the Boruto manga. Also, still in part 1, during the events of the Sasuke Shinden novel, Sasuke himself stated that Boruto already knew how to perform Purple Lightning. So, both Boruto and Mitsuki knew Purple Lightning since part 1. If Kakashi taught it to them, it would've happened before the timeskip (and before the Omnipotence arc). Boruto simply _mastered_ the Jutsu during the timeskip, not learned it from scratch.
