Headcanon: professor death was a Nazi scientist/engineer during the war, his work contributed to hundreds of thousands of deaths both on the front and in the camps Like many others he's granted amnesty to the US in exchange for working for the government, however in his trauma and guilt he vows to never cause the harm of another ever again with his creations... So when confronted if his creations can be used militarily that trauma and guilt all flashes back and he's unable to allow his creations to continue existing!
