Mitch, nice CAI install. You can add protection from the rain by utilizing a cone filter cover and installing a bypass valve. The cone filter cover will keep splashes of water from getting inside the cone filter. This makes it better for rain driving. And it will also keep dust out of the cone filter helping to keep your MAF sensor clean. The Bypass valve will keep air going into the engine in case you go into high water. And it wont let the cone filter suck up any of the high water.

hey Mitch, I was just curious about that mounting bracket on the intake midway through the pipe. looks like it doesn't line up. how's the stability despite that? looking into getting one.

Mitch, nice content. The real proof will be in the Dyno graphs and it should back up your butt dyno. I bet you’ll have more useable tq through out the power band vs your old short ram.

There's a decent hack you can do where you cut a 76mm hole on the lower side of your airbox right under the maf intake part but under the filter then buy some cheap plastic ducting and route it straight out under the engine plastics. It kind of works as ram air at over 50mph and will Garuantee to avoid sucking water in as the airbox will now have two choices of air supply. The top air inlet will bias the warmer air and the lower duct will suck in air just ahead of the front axle best of both worlds really if you ask me

Im running the stock intake box with k@n drop in filter. The thing that gave me like 5-8whp (butt dyno) at 4000-4500rpm was making a new accordion intake tube leading to the stock airbox, with tons of fresh air and protection from the rain. I felt like a wicked magician when I did that free mod! My 2zz used to feel severely choked off at that rpm, it was crazy

Did you polish those intake runners? They're very shiny for the pot aluminum they're made of, I did this and mine aren't nearly that shiny lol.

Btw looking forward to more MR-S videos. Just got my 2ZZ installed, did you have to remove an axle carrier stud from the block to clear the passenger side axle CV boot? Yours is an early model like mine so I would think it uses one piece axles as well and maybe you ran into this issue?

@@MitchDore I plan to do that when I can afford new axles, for now I have to figure out how to back that one stud out lol it looks like it will tear into the axle boot if I hit so much as a bumb in the road. I can't tell what size torx the stud is though, gotta be E8 or E10 socket guess I'll buy both and return the one I don't need. I do not have the income to support this addiction lmao.
