Had a similar short ram intake on my girl's GTS back in the day. It made glorious induction noises but there was a noticible drop in power. Definitely go for a CAI in the future.

its because all it is doing is sucking in hot air, completely dumb to add as a mod. the colder the air the more your engine will gain hp

I just reset the ecu/battery and the car went through the re learn procedure.

The small tube you insert per minute (5:38) where does it end up? Do you attack it somewhere or leave them free?

I hydrolocked my CAI it was a snake one that went by the wheel in october. Switched to a stock intake with a K N filter

Keep the SRI! Do not upgrade to CAI! I had a CXRS and C-GT with CAI and placement of the Filter is where a lot of water collects. I almost had hydro lock with my celica cai. The difference from CAI to SRI for bringing in colder air is maybe 1 degree, I cant see that being much benifits to making more power. However my CXRS came with CAI and I ended up getting it tuned with the CAI specifically which helped with Torque but I did not feel any HP gains. Also I just purchased a Juke 1.6T and I put a SRI Injen and I love it! Makes warm up time as a winter car better than CAI and doesnt get wet. Keep them coming.

How come you keep dropping out of lift? My Tsport stays on the power band with every gear change when I'm driving hard. although mine is manual and believe the Tsport has 10bhp more than the american GTS model. side note though this video has convinced me to get a short ram 😍 That noise

I have a 2003 Vibe GT, basically same as Matrix. Its not fast with a 6 spd! It would be a deal breaker in an auto. The Celica has got to be several hundred pounds lighter, and still not really getting there. I guess my theory of having the slowest 2zz powered vehicle is no longer applicable!

My 2001 1.8 just started jerking like it is running out of gas. Happens about 20 MPH and 1.500 RPM to 2,000 RPM. No work done lately. Idle has also been erratic lately. ANY ideas much appreciated !

Tuning the lift lower will compesate for the transmission shifting out of lift when going into a higher gear. Its possible to keep it in the power band with a tune for sure. The only downfall is the 2zz trans is a 4 speed right?

The automatic transmission in these Celicas are just complete garbage. You fall out of lift very easily through gears. One was full throttle but majority were sound pieces. Take a guess on that one hahahah!

Intake Kit, Exhaust Upgrade and aftermarket ECU gives you freedom with these cars as any other. Pisses me off when people say "You can't tune the ECU".. no you can't...which is why you get an aftermarket one so you can! If you have the money and the knowledge, you can change the 140 Celica to a 500-600HP beast using the same 1zz block. Honestly though, just throwing on an intake kit or exhaust on ANY car is not going to do all that much. Aggressive sound doesn't always mean aggressive performance. TUNE THE THING...dont just rip parts off and part other parts on.

I agree that CAI don't change HP, maybe 5HP, but I don't think that would be noticeable on a 130hp engine, compared to a 50hp increase, which would be noticeable. What I like most, is how it cleans up the engine bay. Q.: Will you 2ZZ-GE this car? Seems like you have a thing for 2ZZ-GE engines. lol. Nice job, bro.

lmao i was going to tag you on a video where i did lift in 5th gear in the XRS.

And god man, you gotta swap a c60 in there, those gear ratios are terrible. Lift doesn't hit in 2nd until after 60mph lol It'd be a shame to leave that auto, with as good as you've done it up. I almost wanna do mine that color now lol. was seriously thinking about a gold metallic flake candy apple green paint job. Idk tho.

Dude, no offense but your celica is auto, your car is a 17 second car, it brakes my heart but the celica auto is a no go, same car with a 6spd swap put on the dyno 178@8000 rpm vs 134 @7800 auto, I will never understand why Toyota even put a auto in that car??? How sad, again the intake shouldn’t give you that much but the engine does respond much better

@@TheGoldenSapling I have the Typhoon by K&N installed om my 1ZZFE Celica, works great and no codes also. I did have a code right before doing it and it was the MAF sensor. It was even within specs of airflow, just maybe slight lower, but it caused codes at highway speeds. changed it with a stock part and code went away and now its great. even on the Typhoon kit.
