Basically the company that bought G&S got greedy. Pissed Wheaton off by trying to make table top a show on alpa behind a paywall. He did not approve.

I liked how the game played out - kind of a surprise ending. I also like the dynamics of the game. I'd read about it, but I didn't realize just how dynamic the win condition is. You have to try to keep your opponents as close to zero as possible, you can't just stack disgrace on someone (at least not too early) because then they'll just flip sides and start helping the rebellion. It really does keep everyone in constant flux, and stays true to the flavor of the house war in the book.

I think this is a great start! Remember Adveture at Far Point Station? The first episode is always rough around edges, but Becca does a great job getting the game moving without making it about her. As the chatter slows, she nudges it back up with factoids from the books. She doesnt have Wheaton's personality, she is more subtle. But I think she can make this really good!

I really liked watching you guys play and Mistborn is one of my favorite series.

I think she did a great job explaining it. I just really wish that we had Tabletop.

Cool to see what Patrick looks like. I emailed extensively with him in July of 2018 after I had some issues with my purchase of the game. He's really friendly and professional and polite and helpful. Super cool dude. LOVE this game and everyone I've introduced to it really loves it too; it's so unique from the usual worker placement/trading resources in the Mediterranean type games. (Not that I don't love those.)

As someone who likes hobby games, I really appreciate that Game the Game is willing to tackle something bigger and less family friendly like this. Tabletop was good, but I always wished they were a little more bold with their game choices.

Sooo I'm 11 minutes in and it's all kinda lukewarm - that being said maybe it will get better. It's just with tabletop you always felt it's a bunch of mates hanging out more or less, here I kinda feel like dunno artificial ? Hope it gets less awkward as I'm a big G&S fan in general so fingers crossed :D

Tabletop was also highly produced with a lot of close in camera angles and the semi-scripted interviews. The wide camera view here is too low and makes me feel like I'm sitting at another table across the room rather than part of the action

Well, yes but I feel like that's something that can be worked on. I'm mainly worried about it going from 'sitting with my mates, that I'm also promoting because, you know they're my mates' to 'let's promote each other' which is the way it is these days and I understand it i just liked the illusion I guess :) But yes there are a lot of things with the way this is filmed that do not help. I still hope it works out as I like getting to know boardgames this way, cuts down the time you have to read the manual :P

RecklessFables You're absolutely right about that. Production value plays a huge part in this, and of course another factor is the type of celebrity guests you are able to attract, but both good production and recognisable faces are expensive, and I think Tabletop cost them a lot of money to make

I think it will get better. The first season of Tabletop had a much lower production value and weren't nearly as good as the later episodes, I think Wil's awkward geek Will-ness and obvious passion for the show kind of carried it through that point. I think this show will find it's footing soon enough and be different, but as high quality eventually. If you want a board game central show, I'd say just give this time.

I'm confused. I'm seeing people talking about missing Tabletop , I know what it is and watched several episodes but it stopped and Game the Game came which I thought was just a new name with a new host. It technically is though if you look at it. I'm just wondering if anyone knows about it like what happened?. I'm enjoying this, just give it a chance. There are plenty of other series Geek and Sundry does and with Critical Role starting its new season maybe give that a try if you haven't already, the first season has over 100 episodes with over 4 hours each. (More including the one-shots) So you'll definitely won't run out anytime soon. I recommend it.

What happened was Legendary decided to hide Tabletop, with its professional editing and camerawork and celebrity personalities, behind a paywall, and give us this still-enjoyable but low-budget replacement. Personally, I still like this show, but it doesn't have the quality work that Tabletop had, so people are complaining about their free entertainment.

Not sure what SapphireDragon357 is talking about. Season 5 of Tabletop is probably not likely. From what I understand, Will did not care much for GnS moving to Alpha and might have also had issues with Legendary being involved. That being said, Game the Game is no replacement. The show has been streaming since early 2015 and is/was GnS' longest running show on twitch. Becca co-hosted the show with Ivan Van Norman and took over full hosting duties this year. This show is no longer live streamed on twitch though and was moved to KZread.

im ok with this its like TableTop but with less production value making it so we only get more episodes. though I would like TableTop too and people are making it sound like TableTop is completely gone

JustWilward Dice towers editing is pretty much none existant. Also judging by the latest kickstarter tabletop cost almost 40k per episode which, although it had a great production quality, didnt really show in the end imo. All in all this is still one of the best channels to watch boardgames on. People are too butthurt about tabletops demise

I find Thugs and Hazekillers to be a fine counter to Coinshots myself.

29:00 -- You guys added the Destroyed resources to the main resource area. They're supposed to go into the "Destroyed" area, where they are then no longer available unless a Lurcher pulls them out. You also forgot to add more Rebel problems to the board when the Lord Renoux problem was solved at 34:17. Disappointing that so many rules were totally ignored even with the game designer at the table. Frankly embarrassing.

This is a show about playing a game and if you pay attention you can really learn strategy. It is definitely a more pure gaming experience than watching celebs screw around with the slow parts edited out.

I think more creative editing will make this generally great playthrough of a game (with very good hosts and players) into something that doesn't look like a visual podcast.

Like they said, the protagonists are the thieving crew rebels trying to overthrow the empire and the Great Houses here. Most of those rebel cards that showed up, like Clubs, Dockson, Spook, and Renoux, are major characters in the book!

I so want an actual Mistborn (RPG) game, this is just a skinned board game that could easily have any other franchise or IP sticker on it.

There is an actual Mistborn RPG (also from Crafty) www.crafty-games.com/shop/mistborn-adventure-game/ . I own it and it is amazing! Brandon worked with them to make the RPG and there is a bunch of great inside info from him in it. The supliments they have are also great going into the Terris and the Skaa as well as updating it to also cover the second Era Mistborn books with Alloy of Law and Alloy of Law Masks of the Past. Wish more people knew about this as it is really hard to find players. Edit: Updated when I realized AoL MotP was already out!

I could point out the gamplay errors made while playing it but I think the worse part is how you were all so absorbed by it that you made it look as bland as possible, while some athmosphere and graphics would have been nice. Especially how you seemed all to want to go through it as fast as possible when I actually liked the mechanics and the game a lot.

Agreed the 2 big reasons people watch geek and sundry is Matt Mercer and Will Wheaton. They are lucky they still have Matt.

Just bridge the gap and build solid foundation that is so simple to do for Wil and Alpha but both have big ego and pride that will prevent reparation for it to ever happen. Grown ups acting like kids with big ego.

Did you eat Felicia and cover urself in her skin? Be honest... This is seriously freaky how Felicia started all this and now her identical sister is slowly taking over everything. I like ur drive tho, keep at it ur doing well.

I'll be one more person in the mob I guess... I found about this channel only because of tabletop....I know not why you stopped tabletop but....this "game the game" show that is obviously trying to recreate that show's atmosphere...and it fails hard at it will weaton was 99% of why I watched the show,his enthusiasm about tabletop games was contageous and made me want to play almost each and every game showcased in tabletop...this show though made me stop watching midway through...and I am a damn fan of the mistborn books AND audiobooks(that's the only reason that I clicked the link for this video)....anyway...just bring tabletop back...you are loosing subs because of such "changes" and the only reason I have not unsubed yet is because I found about critical role(again thank Will Wheaton for that one subscription because I learned of critical role though one of the guests(Laura Bailey) attended tabletop...anyway said my rant...that's that. Sorry becca scott I'm sure you try but...you were staged for falure from the get go,you just can't compete with Will Wheaton on the role of a tabletop game show.

Meh, I'll watch more videos when I see people I watch or know about on, personally I don't know about any of these people. Becca seems like a great replacement for Wil, anyone who would not get salty when they loose would be a great replacement for Wil, but I am going to wait for better guests because that is what will make this show shine.

if money was the reason tabletop was cancelled just bring it back in this format. it's obviously cheaper and we get wil wheaton back. most of us didn't watch tabletop because we wanted a youtube channel to play games. we watched it because we liked wil wheaton hosting it. tabletop doesn't need to have fancy edits. this is nice and all but it just doesn't feel the same.
