Mist Propagation - Rooting Nursery Plants Like the Big Guys

Propagation season is right on top of us here in the Deep South and I needed to rebuild my system from last year yielded so-so results. This year, I'm trying a low tunnel with different mist sprayers. Hopefully, this setup brings higher percentages of success.
PIPE BENDER, WIGGLE WIRE, cross connectors, shade cloth and ALL hoop house/greenhouse supplies here:

    When in doubt, lift the tray. If it feels light then it needs water.

    Do you have a video on what you do with your cuttings once they’ve rooted going into winter? How they should be stored over winter?

    Excellent 👍🌱🌱🌱 I'm all about drip system for my gardens and my heart skipped a beat with excitement because I am literally at this stage of getting ready for my hydrangea propagations 🙌🙌🙌⚡💦 I don't have to figure out something new, just get those stick deals, the second timer and go👍 I have the frame and shade cloth too. Curious, what percentage of shade cloth do you use? I have 40 and a few panels of 65. Wondering if 50 would be the sweet spot. Thank you so much! I'm about to close my Nursery for this part of the season. Opened 2/1 through Memorial Day. It's been a push and labor of love. I actually have a greenhouse business interested in my perennials.🤗🌱 Time to get back to growing and perfecting the propagation side. 👍🌱💦 As always, thank you 🤗

    I don't do a thing. It dries out ennough. That's why having a good draining media (not sopping wet) is critical.

    I had the same problem last year. I ended up adding roll up sides to my greenhouse so i control wind and avoid rain. This works great for me. My current Achilles heel is rodents eating my rooted cuttings...please HELP!

    Thank you so much for your insight. I just got my nursery license and I am starting propagation. I have a question, can I start without a mist system? I want to do this but I haven't quite gotten it worked out. Did you start by hand watering? Is there an option to do that with success?😊

    look into mist bed propagation. i make hundreds of starts using one that is only 3x6ft and i cost me about 150 bucks to make if your creative and handy. my first round of fig trees that came out of it make me about 600 bucks profit and paid for the whole system.

    Question: Why not drill your hole in the white tubing and the use the barbed end (that you cut off) and insert it in the white tube? That’s basically a drip system, you’re just using a different supply tube. 🤔

  • @savvydirtfarmer

    @savvydirtfarmer

    Ай бұрын

    The PVC is too rigid (hard). Poly tubing that the barb is made for, has some “stretch” that allows the bard to work with.
