Mist Covered Mountains of Home,
Waltzed and newly harmonized by Mark Knopfler, played by the Dire Straits" and Waltzed in the cult movie -"Local Hero" (1983).In 3 minutes you can see the inn keeper who is also the book keeper of the whole town, accompanies the Dire Straights, playing accordeon, the company representative from USA dances with the inn keepr's wife whom he is so attracred to, a fank girl trying to catch a regular guy, but he escapes, two okd timers try to imitate the expressions of movie stars: Humphrey Bogart, Carrie Grant, and James Stewart, and the local homless tries to stuff food into his pockets, for the whole week. All this event take place while the great rock band performs the old folk song, in a very special and original way.

@@beagle7622 If you're referring to the album "Music From Local Hero", it has the track "The Mist Covered Mountains" but it appears to be fragments of music from this scene spliced either end of a composition of the song on a synth. It's a shame because the way it was played in this scene is just so completely enchanting.

Very soon after this the 2 Cunningham brothers passed through Columbus OH USA for a sparsely attended (because of publicity breakdown) concert at a dive near the huge OSU campus. Our party were pipe band and ceilidh aware, and enthusiastic, so the brothers changed the usual ending of their show to play "Mist Covered Mountains" just this way as a waltz, with some of us dancing to it and soon joined by others. It would take us years to realize how rare that moment was. RIP Johnny.
